2nd Hand News
Feb 23-March 6
Hopefully, winter has had its last gasp and we won't have anymore short weeks. It was wonderful to see parents at the Auction and I'm glad the storm didn't put a damper on the party. In the last few weeks, students celebrated the 100th day of school by measuring and cutting 100 centimeter strips to make festive hats. In math, we have been working on understanding time using analog clocks and determining elapsed time. A literature study using Fantastic Mr. Fox has begun, and our passport around the world led us to Japan and Israel. Predicting and observing the weather and participating in collecting data about ice formation, along with melting ice using different substances, has been interesting. Hopefully we can move on from this wintery science investigation soon! Hawaii Day was like the groundhog--cheerful but it did not provide us with immediate spring.
A FEW THINGS
- MARCH READING CALENDARS came home this past week. Please aim for 60 minutes a week in honor of Dr. Seuss's March birthday.
- 3rd Grade Marketing Project: If you haven't already done so, please consider buying BFS T-shirts in support of our hardworking 3rd graders.
- PAJAMA DAY is March 13th!
- NO LIBRARY Monday, March 9th due to the rescheduled 1st grade play. We look forward to supporting our LS friends "upstairs."
Have a great weekend!
With a smile,
Mrs. Nyce
