PTA- Join and Participate

Dear Parents and Important People,

Our first 2014 PTA meeting is this Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 pm in our school cafe. Come learn about ways to get plugged in and take an active role in your learners education. PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association and they are a critical part of our school culture. This group includes members who can join for a simple $10 annual fee. Both members and non-members are allowed to attend general meetings. Funds from membership and approved fundraisers support campus projects and goals. Please join us to hear more about plans for this year.

PTA will assist in building up a great program known as WATCH DOG's. This group is Dad's of Great Students. This unique group are fathers or men in our students lives who want to come to school to volunteer time in a variety of capacities. Come learn more about how you can be a WATCH DOG!

Progress Reports

Each learner at Prestwick is on a 9 week grading period. This means that learners will receive a progress reports at 3 weeks and another at 6 weeks. Official report cards will be sent at the end of 9 weeks grading cycle.

Our learners in grades K-8 will bring home progress reports for the first 3 weeks of school on Tuesday, Sept. 16th. We encourage parents and students to review grades, celebrate successes and most importantly set goals for growth. No need to panic if you see a grade that is not what you want it to be because 6 weeks remain in the grading period. For specific questions please contact your child's teacher. Open lines of communication benefit our learners.

High expectations, quality instruction and 100% effort means our learner can gain one year or more of progress this year.

Pay it forward

Our 4th grade learners plan to visit Austin's state capitol for a field trip in May. This trip supports the study of Texas History. Prestwick is partnering with our sister campus of Hackberry Elementary for this trip.

We are looking for sponsors willing to donate funds to cover cost for families who may have difficulty paying for their child to attend this exceptional opportunity. Total cost per child is $83 including transportation. Contact your child's 4th grade teacher or our front office if you wish to sponsor. Your kind donation has the chance to make a real difference in the life of a child- we appreciate you doing so.
