Magic Milk Experiment
First graders read "11 Experiments That Failed," learned about scientific method and conducted their own science experiment with milk, food coloring and dish soap.
Inferencing with "No, David!"
Kindergarteners read "No, David" by David Shannon and were introduced to inferencing by using clues to figure out the contents of a "mystery box."
Weather Event Headbanz
First grade students read "On the Same Day in March: A Tour of the World's Weather" and used their knowledge of weather events in a game of "Headbanz."
Reading All-Stars
On April 13th, Ellen Woodside's Reading All-Stars enjoyed a night of baseball and fun compliments of the Greenville Drive and Michelin North America.
Battle of the Books
The Ellen Woodside Battle of the Books team read 10 award-winning books and competed in a regional competition at Bell's Crossing on March 26.
Reference Races
Third grade teams competed in a "reference race" to select the best reference source and locate the specific information needed to answer a question quickly.
New Books and Guided Reading Sets
New Guided Reading Sets
New guided reading sets of children's literature, including popular series that our students love as well as teacher favorites are now available in the media center. These titles are searchable in Destiny Quest and are classified as classroom book sets (CBS).
Book Fair Purchases
Thanks to our EWE PTA, teachers, parents and students for supporting our March book fair. Our "read box" display features some of the books purchased with the proceeds from the fair.
Leveled Reader Library
Nonfiction texts about animals are among the new additions to the leveled reader library.
