New After School Procedures Starting Monday, January 7th
There is a direct link between a student and their connection to their school and their success. Often, this connection is improved with participation in extra-curricular activities. We want to continue to offer a plethora of after-school activities and ensure a safe and secure environment.
If your student rides the late bus @ 3:30, they must now receive a blue bus pass to ride from their supervising adult.
We are hoping that this will significantly help improve our after-school culture. Please assist us in implementing these new supports and by continuing to build a better Schroeder community.
Thank you for all you do in supporting your student and our school!

All students will be working with their counselor to finalize course selections
- Changes to requests must go through counselor once finalized.
- Changes can be made through the beginning of May.
To complete online course registration:
- As you make your selections have the WSHS Course Sheet in front of you. This is a list of all courses available. Descriptions are available when you do a course search (see following steps)
- Log on to Infinite Campus
- Select Course Registration: WSHS 19 – 20 in the Index
- You will notice that "Required courses" have already been selected. "Required Courses" are those classes that your teachers have recommended. If you agree with the recommendation of your teacher, you do not need to add the class again.
- If you would like to add another class or elective, or differ from your teacher's recommendation:
- Select Course Search
- Type the course number or name in the search box, then click "Go"
- Click on the title of the course. You will see a course description. Then scroll to the bottom and click "Request as an alternate"
- If your selection does not match the teacher recommendation, you will be able to discuss options with your counselor during your scheduling meeting
Helpful tips when registering for courses:
- Consider your course selection carefully. Choose courses to fill graduation requirements but remember to take advantage of the many opportunities available to you in high school. Colleges are concerned with the academic strength of a student's program. Admissions representatives like to see students who have taken challenging courses and exceeded the minimum number of credits in math, science, and languages other than English.
- While it is important to have a challenging schedule, it is equally important to do well in your classes. Do not select more than you can handle.
- Look into the vast elective program that is offered. There are electives in art, business, english, math, music, science, social studies and technology.
- A weak senior year will impact admission decisions related to college. Electives that add strength to a senior schedule include, but are not limited to: computer science principles, psychology, Latin, Microsoft Office, public speaking, digital earth, advertising & graphic design, multimedia and communications.
Important NEWS from PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
Exciting opportunities in Physical Education!! Students in Physical Education class will have the opportunity to select a new class or remain in their current class second semester. Your son or daughter’s Physical Education teacher will be explaining the process to them and the choices they will have next semester. Students will continue to take PE during the time period they are currently taking it. Students will receive a Google Classroom code in advance and have access to an electronic copy of the choices they will have next semester. This will be a choice they make electronically. The official choice will occur:
Sunday, January 13th at 7:00 PM
Students are encouraged to log onto their Google Classroom a little before 7:00 pm in order to make their choice when it becomes available. Students can use their Chromebooks or their phones by signing into their Google account. Student’s guidance counselors WILL NOT be involved with this process. If students have a conflict with this time (EX. they are working, etc.) a parent or guardian can log onto their Google account and sign up for them. A majority of our students will have the opportunity to choose a new class or remain in the same class BUT there are a few classes that DO NOT have another class that period to choose from. The opportunity to sign-up will be available until all students select a class BUT the best opportunity to secure the class they prefer would be to sign-up at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening. The official switch will occur when the second semester begins. We are excited to offer students the opportunity to choose activities in Physical Education that best align with their interests to promote lifelong fitness!!
EMCC CLOSED on January 22nd & 23rd!
PTSA News!
Great news: Webster parent and graphic designer, Jan Cunningham, has volunteered to design next year’s PTSA calendar. We are so excited to welcome her to the team! We just need a few more volunteers to make the 2019-20 PTSA school calendar a success.
Can you help this spring?
Sponsor Coordinators (2-3 people) - Outreach to the Webster community to obtain sponsors . Sales & follow up.
Student Artwork Coordinators (1-2 people) - Emailing Art Teachers in all schools to receive student artwork & parent permission for each piece using Email, Dropbox, and Google Forms.
Event Date Coordinator (1 person) - Coordinate with the district to receive download of calendar events , ensure correct format and edit for typos. Must use spreadsheets, be detail-oriented.
The calendar is WC PTSA’s largest fundraiser benefiting every single school. It also helps bring our school families together for events, concerts and activities across the district, and highlights student artwork!
Email Calendar@websterptsa.org if you can help or would like more details. Plus it’s not too soon to let us know if you’re interested in becoming a sponsor! Don’t worry, we’ll share everything you’ll need and you won’t be on your own - it’s a team effort!

One Webster Community Approves Capital Improvement Project!
We want to thank the One Webster community for heading to the polls on Tuesday, December 11 and APPROVING the district’s capital improvement project by a more than 2:1 margin! The final vote tally was 1,595 (68%) YES and 763 (32%) NO.
The $69.5 million project is focused on community wellness, safety and security, and infrastructure integrity and touches all 11 school buildings and the transportation department’s headquarters -- truly transforming our district for generations of WCSD students to come! The project includes new state-of-the-art libraries/media centers at all elementary schools, Willink Middle School, and Webster Schroeder HS. There will also be substantial renovations to the Webster Thomas HS technology education wing, district-wide safety and security upgrades, and playing field improvements at both high schools, to name just a few highlights.
On behalf of the entire board of education, thank you for making your voice heard regarding this transformative project. We look forward to sharing details of the project’s progress in the months and years to come.
We also wish all WCSD families a Happy New Year! Check back often for important board updates throughout 2019.
WCSD Announces WonderCare Before and After School Childcare Program
WCSD is pleased to announce the opening of WonderCare, the district's new before and after school childcare program. WonderCare will open its doors in September 2019 at each of WCSD’s seven elementary schools and will be available to all WCSD-enrolled kindergarten through sixth grade students.
WonderCare has been established in an ongoing effort to ease the transition for families as the district prepares to shift to an earlier start time for elementary schools in fall 2019. New start times for elementary schools will be 7:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m., and 8:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. for secondary schools (middle and high schools), with all times plus or minus five minutes.
WonderCare will provide an outstanding part-time, full-time, or drop-in program for WCSD elementary and sixth grade families seeking childcare at a reasonable rate. The program includes caring, experienced directors and staff members with an onsite coordinator at every elementary building. All elements of WonderCare programming will support WCSD’s curriculum and provide even more worthwhile educational experiences for our students. As with all public education programs, WonderCare will be overseen by the New York State Education Department.
WonderCare will serve as an option for families seeking before and after school childcare programming for the 2019-20 school year. Enrollment packets will be available beginning in January 2019.
Please visit our new WonderCare webpage for more information about the program, including pricing structure and FAQs. Should you have any questions, please contact wondercare@webstercsd.org or call 216-0017.
