Teacher Appreciation Week

We appreciate our teachers and staff all year! But let's make next week special. Each day we will have a treat for all our teachers and staff. We start off Monday, stress free by having bagels and coffee in the mail room. We will also have our teacher trivia question during announcements, this year we have several great prizes, including gift cards, goodie bags and even an ipod shuffle. Thank you teachers and staff for everything you do for our kids every day of the year!

Sidewalk Art

Sidewalk chalk STAAR inspirations on Monday before test. Come to the sidewalk by the playground or in front where buses arrive. Bring chalk if you have it please. Write words of encouragement … draw pictures.

Preparing our Students for the 21st Century

Social Communication Skill Resolving Conflict

As you know, we all face conflict in our lives. This happens sometimes on the playground, in class working with others, or even at home. The way we respond is the most important.

  1. Listen for what is felt as well as said. ...
  2. Make conflict resolution the priority rather than winning or "being right." ...
  3. Focus on the present. ...
  4. Pick your battles. ...
  5. Be willing to forgive. ...
  6. Know when to let something go.
  7. Please see the image below for additional ideas.

Student Management

As the end of the school year approaches, a friendly reminder to please closely monitor students after school. We did ask for teachers assigned to each area, since there have been limited people in the auditorium and sometimes bus areas.

A suggestion was made to have teachers rotate in leading the management in the auditorium. For example: you can lead the group into playing the quiet game, trivia, etc. so they are entertained as they wait. Here is the schedule:

Monday-K

Tuesday-1

Wednesday-2

Thursday-3

Friday-4/5

We have also made adjustments in the cafeteria due to issues during kindergarten and 1st grade lunch. Please let us know if there are any additional adjustments needed.
