EAGLE NEWS
March 14th, 2021
We are really excited about our Book Fair! You can participate online, or you can come in to purchase the books your child would like. If you do come to buy books in person please help keep everyone safe.
- Stay socially distanced and wait your turn until you are invited to walk through the fair
- Please know the books you want BEFORE entering
- No browsing - it's a walkthrough, pick-up, and pay protocol
- Follow the ONE WAY arrows through the book fair
Students will have the opportunity to browse the fair with their cohorts at school and can let you know what books they would like. You can also preview the books online. See the link further down in the newsletter!
In addition to promoting the love of reading, our Rancho Book Fair is also a fundraiser. The money raised goes to support programs and events for our school.
We have a special program to "Adopt a Reader" so all Rancho Eagles can buy new books. We have already received generous donations totaling over $350 to buy books for kids who might not have the resources available. THANK YOU - The Rancho community truly works together to support each other. If you'd like to contribute to buying a book for a student, see the blurb a little lower in this newsletter.
Happy Reading Everyone!

In anticipation of this change, teachers are bringing desks in and experimenting with what it will look like to have a full class of students in their room. We could use some help moving desks back to classrooms and raising and lowering the desk legs. If you can help in the next week or two, please email me. cnam@nusd.org
As a community, we can work together to remain flexible and keep an open mind when going through any transition. I believe we are on the same page in that we want students in school more, and we want to make sure it's safe for everyone.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

We Need Your Help...and Pictures!
To upload photos to the Rancho Yearbook yourself, go to commpe.pictavo.com and use Rancho’s code 95789. Select “upload photos” on the right hand side. If you have a login from last year you can still use that. If you are a new user please create a login and then upload your photos. Please use the sub folder categories because I don’t know who all of the students are or what grade they are in.
If you have any questions please contact Amanda Roe at AmandaRoe716@gmail.com
In the Spotlight

Public Health Changes Covid Protocol
Starting March 15, Marin Public Health is updating their protocol for students that test positive for Covid. While schools will continue to work and consult with Public Health on positive cases, they are shifting from closing classes with positive cases to contact tracing for grades 3-12. Only those that are identified as a ‘close contact’ with a positive individual will be required to quarantine. With the very low number of positive Covid cases and transmission in schools in the county, Public Health is not recommending or requiring that the class ‘close’ or transition to remote learning for 3rd grade and up. We understand that Public Health will be updating and publishing updated protocols soon.

SUPPORT A RANCHO READER!
Support a Rancho reader by donating to our 'Adopt a Reader' fund and we will purchase grade and reading level appropriate books for our students in need.
Please Venmo the amount you'd like to contribute to @egaborjak and books will be distributed to students by our wonderful community liaison, Marisol Nita.
All contributions gratefully accepted, thank you for your generosity! We even had some heartwarming messages and generous donations from grandparents' of Rancho students! Our loving Rancho community extends way beyond our school classrooms.
PTA Needs a Treasurer for 2021-2022!
We still need a ONE person to volunteer for a PTA Board position in order to have an operating PTA next school year! We need a Treasurer! And we'll support you along the way! Our current Treasurer, Matt DeVita's, two year term is up. He will still be a parent at Rancho and will be available for guidance throughout the next year. Plus, this year's Financial Secretary, Dante Esparza, will continue next year. He records and makes all deposits.
There are so many benefits to join, including meeting families, being apart of event/fundraiser discussions, getting to know Mrs. Nam and teacher representatives, and most importantly contributing to the way your child experiences school!
Please see the basic description below and contact Aubin Giampaoli to learn more and ask any questions: ranchoschoolpta@gmail.com
Treasurer* (current and two-year term is ending: Matt DeVita)
The treasurer keeps the books for our PTA, recording all income and expenses using PTAeazy (PTAs accounting platform). She/he pays bills and write creaks. She/he reports regularly at PTA board meetings and presents the treasurer’s report at the general meetings. The treasurer works on next year’s budget in the spring with a budget committee.
PTA General Meeting - Monday, March 22nd 6:00pm
Please join us for our forth PTA General Meeting - Monday, March 22th 6:00pm. Join other families and staff members to hear about and discuss what is happening in our Rancho community. There are many exciting ideas and planning in the works! Also, we will hold our PTA Board elections for the 2021-2022 school year.
PTA's goal is to build connections, provide fun opportunities to get involved and meet other families while helping our school, and find unique fundraising events this school year to support Rancho. However, there is never any pressure to sign-up or participate.

I'd like to give a special shout-out to our wonderful SITE Council members: Amanda Handoyo, Joanna King, Cornelia Taylor, Wenkang Hou, Kristy Chipman, Amy Bondanza, and Martha Paulos. This team has been meeting together monthly to review Rancho's goals and work together on creating our School Site Plan. Their feedback, insight, and dedication is invaluable. (The plan is being presented at the board meeting on Tuesday evening if you'd like to tune in!)
