Council meetings last one hour and are generally held once a month from September to May. Our first meeting will occur on September 24th at 3:00 PM, location is in room 16. We hope to see a lot of parents at our first meeting later this month!

Message from the Principal

Happy Friday to Families, Teachers, & Students!

I am happy to report that we have successfully and joyfully completed our official second week of school! I’ve had so much fun connecting with your children and seeing them learn from their teachers and peers both inside and outside of the classroom. I am excited to share that just this week the Mateo Sheriff's Activity League and The Rotary Club of Redwood City donated tubs of supplies for each teacher at Clifford. It is the donations like these that help support our teachers and our students with the items they need! We are so appreciative of the generosity of both of these organizations! THANK YOU!

I want to wish everyone a wonderful, relaxing, and safe three day weekend! See you on Tuesday!

Classroom Spotlight!! This month we spotlight TK and Kindergarten Classrooms!

Our TK and Kinder students have been working hard these last two weeks! I am proud of the parents/families, teachers, and the students! What a great two weeks your kiddos have had! Here are some pictures and messages from the teachers that I would like to share with you all! Enjoy!

From Ms. Kim’s Class, Ms. Mairani’s Class, and Mrs. Wilkerson’s Class!

Room 2’s students have been very excited to start their new school year in Kindergarten. I feel very lucky to be working with such an amazing group of students. I also appreciate the warm welcome from colleagues and staff. The class is making new friends and saying hello to familiar faces. They are learning the rules and how to work together with their peers in the classroom and on the playground. The children are having fun interacting with each other in explorative centers. They are engaging in new experiences through literature, sharing circles, play, singing songs, and pair sharing, these activities help them to know the routines and procedures of the school and help us get to know one another. We are also working on our names, shapes, and numbers, as well as, how to be a good friend and effectively communicate with one another. Taking turns, sharing and working together as a community is also emphasized. I am so happy to be teaching here at Clifford this year and am looking forward to a great school year. Ms. Kim Bewley

Clifford Kindergarten is off and running! We are enjoying the start of a wonderful year ahead! We are learning our class and school rules as well as experiencing many other firsts, such as going to the Lunch Room and having recess. We are making friends and learning how to use our words, and above all, to be kind to one another. This Friday was Gingerbread Man Day in Kindergarten! We found our gingerbread cookies were missing and searched the school and a few classrooms trying to find them. Good news! We did! We are off to a great start and a fabulous year of learning, growing and becoming good citizens and hard-working students.

Message from Ms. Sandie TK Room 3

We're having BIG FUN in TK, learning new songs and making new friends. Writing the Morning Message every morning together and learning how to work and share with our teammates. We are a very kind group who love to help each other and as always, We Love To Run!!!!

Ms. Sandie's favorite quote from a student:

"Miss Sandie, I like you when you're Happy!!"

Project Cornerstone

Read a Book - Change a Life (Project Cornerstone)

Project Cornerstone’s Asset Building Champions (ABCs) are caring adults who read books and lead discussions with students in class. Through select stories, we will help build a school-wide language for handling social-emotional and relationship issues and empower students to make good choices. What’s more, ABC readers will connect with students and make a difference in their lives all year long. (To read more, please visit

We are looking for caring parents and adult volunteers who want to engage with students once a month in class (you don't have to read every month! Any amount of time that you can contribute will be much appreciated.). Become an ABC volunteer (reader/docent)! A training meeting (ABC Assets 101), for new volunteers, will be coming up soon. Stay tuned... For more information or to sign up, please contact Shabnam Moon at

Los lectores de ABC se conectan con los estudiantes y marcan la diferencia en sus vidas durante todo el ano. Para obtener más información visite

Monitor your Child’s Social Media Use

As a parent, I am always surprised at the things my children know by perusing sites online. Trying to keep my children away from sites like Pinterest and Youtube is hard enough, and then there are popular social networks like Instagram and Snapchat!

If your child has a phone and/or uses social media accounts, please have frank conversations with them about what they may be posting or viewing online-- as parents, it might be awkward to have this conversation (and your child might resist talking to you about this) but is very important that they are aware of what content might be inappropriate, if they are to see it. They also must know that they can share their concerns about inappropriate content with a trusted adult.

For tips on how to speak to your child about safe internet use, please look at the website And thanks for speaking with your kids about this-- We are in this together!
