Mustang Family News for 2/16/22
News for families of Margarita Middle School
From the Principal
Hello Mustang Families!
Thank you partnering with us to keep our focus this school year.
- Be Connected
- Be Curious
- Be Consistent
Your work at home makes our school GREAT!
It was great to see students participate in our Pink & Red Spirit Day this week. The smiles and activities to celebrate Valentine's Day in school energized our students. It felt like 2020 again this week. Our next ASB Spirit Day is GOLDEN (wear gold and yellow) DAY: Tuesday, February 22!
Last week I shared tools to help you as you parent your middle schooler. I am reposting them in case you missed them.
- WSJ Report on the Tik Tok practices &;
- An article on China limiting access to social media to 40 minutes per day for children under 18.
I hope this information helps to strengthen your family as we strive to work together for the good and growth of our middle school students. We are here to partner with you.
ALERT! Progress Reports are coming soon. Students striving for membership in Club 3.0, Club 3.5, and Club 4.0 should be checking grades and using period 3 Flex, the Library Tutoring Center, and Canvas to pursue excellence. Mustang Academy Mentors are ready to help everyday in our library until 4 pm each day.
Thank you for your help in making the Margarita Family so great!
Sincerely,
Mr. Duane Legg

NEW! Sports & Fitness Class
Beginning This Week right after school on the blacktop at MMS, join us for a new Sports & Fitness Class taught by Mr. Stoehr.
All boys and girls interested in getting fit for spring and ready for the upcoming Basketball and Track Seasons are invited. Bring water and a positive attitude.
Class began Tuesday, Feb 15th @ 2:50.
iReady
- Check your students iReady to see if they met their goal of 45 minutes in reading and math.
Teachers have scheduled time during FLEX and during class to spend time on Math and Reading. However, to reach their required 45 minutes for each subject, they may need to spend additional time on iReady at home.

Lunch Detention Policy
Students can receive detentions for things such as tardies to class and behavior issues. These detentions are primarily to be assigned out of school hours, such as before or after school. In middle school, a large portion of students are still being picked up by family members or friends, which can cause these detentions to interrupt students from getting home. Daylight hours can also be a concern when assigning detentions outside of school hours. In order to support students getting to where they need to be outside of school hours, our practice for detentions will be to assign them during the school hours, such as break or lunch (students will still be provided time to eat). This will allow students to continue with their before and after-school transportation as usual. If you would prefer your child serve any assigned detentions outside of school hours, please let us know by clicking here.
