2018-2019 School Year: Volume 9: Week 9 November 2, 2018
Be the Best YOU at Grandview!!!
November is here!!!
Happy Halloween week! This is a week filled with lots of sugar, excitement and fun for the students. We hope you have a Spooktacular week, but please remember that learning still needs to be a priority. We notice that when structure and routines are altered, behaviors are affected. Still make sure that your children are getting enough sleep and enough structure so that learning can be at a maximum! Finally, have a safe Halloween! Make sure your child is warm, accompanied by an adult, and has some lighting/glow stick to ensure that they are safe!!
If you have not signed up for conferences, please do so. It is the expectation for the teacher to meet with each student in the fall. A lot of important information will be shared with all of you and it is essential that the parent, student, and teacher dynamic is rich with communication and information. So please ensure that you are able to set a conference.
As I look to November, it is my month to express things I am thankful for. Please be sure to find a way to share something you are thankful for each day. I will be sharing my thankfulness each day with the students on the announcements, as well as on social media. Please join me on this challenge! We all have a lot to be thankful for, so lets spread the word!!
Your Proud Principal,

Digital Citzenship
Last week I shared with you the district policies regarding technology. The kids are still testing and they are so tech-savvy, they can find any way possible to "stretch the policies." Please go through the following link to discuss with your children the power of their digital footprint.
Tardy
We have had a lot of students arriving late. Tardies start at 8:40 and will be tracked. If your child comes in after the class did the lunch count, then they will automatically get PB&J as their lunch choice. Lunch counts will not be finalized until after 8:40. If you know your child is going to be late, then please call in the tardy and select your child's lunch choice to ensure that they can get another choice. Our lunch counts are becoming very lopsided and we need to ensure that the children are getting the choice that they signed up for. Also we need our students on time for school!!

Kroger and Grandview
We now have a Partnership with Kroger. If you add Grandview to your Kroger Rewards account, Grandview will receive a % of what you spend. The directions are below. It is so easy to do it. I did it and it took less than five minutes.
Congratulations on your enrollment into the Kroger Community Rewards Program. Your participants may begin enrolling upon receipt of this email.
You have been assigned a new NPO (Non-Profit Organization) number TH003.
Please refer to this number in all future correspondence.
To Use the Kroger Community Rewards Program:
Simply encourage your participants to visit http://www.kroger.com. Once logged into their Kroger account they can search for Friends of Grandview either by name or TH003 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a rewards card.
*Customers must have a registered Kroger rewards card account to link to your organization.
*If a member does not yet have a Kroger rewards card, please let them know they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger
REMEMBER, purchases will not count for your organization until after your participants register their rewards card.
Participants must swipe their registered Kroger rewards card or use the phone number that is related to their registered Kroger rewards card when shopping for each purchase to count.
Thank you!

Bookflix for Grandview Families
The Michigan eLibrary did not renew their subscription to Bookflix. We found great value in this site for our children. Therefore, Grandview purchased a school subscription that allows teachers and students to use the following username and password to access Bookflix at home and at school. Please feel free to use this at home. The link is as follows.....
https://digital.scholastic.com/site/launch/bkflix?ucn=600063987
There is a link on the Library symbaloo and will be putting a link under the student links on the Clarenceville website.
Username: grandvw
Password: flix
If you click on the apple and book in the top right corner, it takes you to a Resources and Tools page where you can search for books, search by themes, running times and grade levels.
This is another way to engage your students with their learning at home.
Enjoy!!!
Pink Out Store
Team Gibson/Terpack still have the Pink Out Store opened. Suckers and other items will be sold to raise money for Karmanos Cancer Center. The store will be set up in the main hallway by the office and will be student run. This store will be starting on Tuesday.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
Meetings are underway for both of these great organizations. Girl Scouts will be meeting on Wednesdays and Boy Scouts will be meeting on Mondays at 6:30. Come join the fun!
Transportation Changes
Do not rely on just the office for transportation changes. It is important that you also put it in writing in an email to the teacher. If you alert the teacher and the office, chances are better that the message is delivered accurately. We have so many transportation changes at the end of the day that makes us uneasy that a mistake could occur. Please do not make a change after 3:00!!
