Slaybaugh School Complex
Week of February 14, 2021
Principal's Message
Happy Valentine's Day, Slaybaugh families!
Brrr, it's cold - I guess the groundhog was right! I hope everyone is staying warm and safe during this cold snap. As always, EHTSD is closely monitoring potential inclement weather in order to keep our staff and students safe. Hopefully, this will be the last of the cold weather. Spring is not too far off in the distance and I heard rumors of temperatures in the 50s next week.
Many of our classes celebrated the 100th day of school as we continue to provide lots of fun learning activities for our virtual and in-person students. I am thankful to our teachers who maneuver between the two worlds.
This past week, we celebrated "Random Acts of Kindness Week," and I am so proud of our students who made every effort to be more aware of being kinder to each other.
Have a good week as we enter the last week of February and are hopeful that March will enter like a lamb and stay that way!
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Stay Safe,
Joe Marinelli

Student Achievement
First Grade Students Spread Kindness
Mrs. Nale's First grade class is off to a great start with their "Random Act of Kindness Challenge!" The class has been given the task of helping someone at home without being asked. Several of Mrs. Nale's students were up to the task with no effort at all.
Awesome job to all of the students! Keep up the good work and keep the kindness going :)
Third Graders Thank Mr. Marinelli!
GT Students Observe Black History Month
Third grade GT students GT completed the "Who Said That?" activity in which they used their research skills to identify the speakers behind "mystery quotes" from famous African Americans. Once the speaker was identified students were tasked with analyzing the significance of the powerful words. These quotes were put in to context when students participated in a virtual field trip to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, a museum located in Atlanta, Georgia.
