- A tour of Manchester University Campus
- Sitting in on a college class
- Lunch
- Meet current students
- Sessions covering the Honors Program, international study, and career services
This event is a great opportunity to begin or continue your college search.
As a note of interest: Manchester University writes "Junior Scholars Day participants are also guaranteed an academic scholarship upon admission to Manchester University."
Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders
The Lugar Symposium will be held at the
University of Indianapolis on
Saturday, December 8, 2018.
Activities will begin at 9:30 am (EST) until approximately 4:30 pm.
The Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders is designed to expose some of Indiana's brightest young minds to current global issues. We are able to nominate three outstanding student leaders from the junior class to attend this year's symposium. If you are interested in this event, indicate your interest via email to vbarnes@hobart.k12.in.us by Friday, November 23, 2018.
Senator Lugar will provide the keynote address, and students will have an opportunity to attend two afternoon sessions about current events. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Senator Lugar and participate in a question and answer session. Lunch will be provided and there will be no cost to the participant beyond normal travel expenses.
Students and families must have their own travel arrangements to and from Indianapolis.
As a note of interest, students who attend the Symposium as juniors and ultimately decide to attend the University of Indianapolis are eligible for a 15,500 Symposium Tuition Scholarship to attend UIndy.

IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages
IU Honors Program is beginning to promote their summer study abroad program.
This program is for high school students in French, German, or Spanish. To participate in the program, students must be enrolled in level III classes or higher during this academic year.
Registration is open from September 15, 2018 through November 15, 2018. The registration fee is $15.00.
Students will be selected to participate in the program based on their application materials.
The application includes but may not be limited to:
- Personal Questionnaire
- Writing sample in target language
- Official school transcript
- Parental assessment
- Two academic appraisals
- One non-academic appraisal
Some Qualifications:
- Attend an Indiana High School
- Be between 15 and 19 years old
- Be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior
- Be in Level III or higher of Spanish, French, or German
- Have the correct documentation to travel to the host country and return to the US
