Reception Stay and Play
We had a fantastic time on Tuesday morning when we created circus crafts with our families! It was lovely to chat to you all and see how unique each child’s work was! We hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did.
NSPCC workshops
This week our Year 5/6 classes received a visit from NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). The workshop they delivered was both interactive and helpful. The children enjoyed getting involved in discussions with the help their mascot, Buddy. They covered topics like bullying and abuse in a child-friendly and age appropriate way, so Year 5/6 know they can get help if or when they need it. NSPCC helped them identify a trusted adult they can talk to if they're ever worried about themselves or a friend.
Summer Reading Challenge
Last week, we had a celebratory assembly run by the library following the summer reading challenge. 57 of our children took part in The Space Chase and were thrilled to receive their certificates of completion. All the children enjoyed developing ideas for next year’s library reading challenge as well as listening to poetry delivered by a wonderful librarian from Sherburn. I wonder how many children will enter next time?
Sporting News - Football
This week our 9 Year 6 boys represented South Milford against 9 teams in the Sherburn Cluster. The event held at Sherburn High consisted of two pools.
The scores are as follows:
South Milford 1 - Kellington 0
South Milford 4 - Barkston Ash 0
South Milford 1 - Althlestan 1
Overall the team came joint first in their pool. They played with a high level of skill and encourage one another throughout. The sportsmanship on show was exceptional.

Young Voices
Christmas Charity Appeal
Dear parents and carers,
The pupils at our school have expressed an interest in creating a box of goodies to send to disadvantaged children and adults in Eastern Europe. We will be ordering the boxes from the Rotary Club (as they cater for all ages and have no religious or political affiliations), who deliver and collect directly to us. The cost of this is £2.00 per box. When the boxes arrive, we will be asking the children to fill them with unwanted toys and games in good condition, and toiletries, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste. You can find more information on https://www.rotaryshoebox.org/.
Each year group will be creating boxes for different age ranges:
Reception and Year One – babies and toddlers
Year Two, Three and Four – primary age children
Year Five and Six – teenagers
Staff at school – adults
If your child would like to create a box, please could you pay £2 on Parent Pay, so they can participate?
Thank you for your support,
South Milford JLT
Blue Peter Music Badge
If you haven’t heard already, Blue Peter have excitingly launched a new badge designed by Ed Sheeran to celebrate children’s involvement and enjoyment of music! All you have to do is love music; pick up an instrument, get involved in a music group or any way you can think of to get involved with music. I know that some of you are already very involved in music so you don’t even need to do anything else.
As you know we love music as a school, we would love as many children as possible to apply for a badge! So that we can celebrate your achievements as a school, please come and show Miss Rowley if you are successful in receiving a badge and we can put your photo on the music wall!
Please find the application form below:
