NEW Chromebooks!
After MAP testing next week, students in grades 1-5 WILL be bringing home their chromebooks every day. Kindergarten students will be bringing these home beginning in January.
Below is some new information that we hope will help parents to feel confident about your students' CB usage at home.
- Chromebooks will only be available to students between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm. The internet will not be connected outside of these hours. Yes, the district can control that!
- There are new content filters which block certain games, video, and audio. Our goals is to only allow chromebooks for learning.
School Shirts! Deadline is Friday!
These shirts will be worn on field day, field trips, and other school events.
What is MAP Testing?
MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) is a nationally-normed, computerized test, provided to all Anderson 5 students in grades K-5. It assesses students in the areas of math and reading and allows our teachers to identify specific areas of strength and areas for improvement. Teachers use this information to prepare small group instruction on each child's ability level in both reading and math.
Parents will receive information about your child's score in the weeks after testing.
We are MAP testing this coming week, so on the day before your child's MAP test, your child's teacher will be keeping their chromebook at school so it will be charged and ready.
Please ensure your child is well-rested, well-fed and on time for school, especially on their MAP testing day.
For further questions, please email your child's teacher.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Please remember that prior to 7:15 all students must remain in your cars, including Safety Patrol. We have some students who were waiting at the door recently and this is a major safety concern. Students cannot be left unsupervised on school grounds. Thank you! We promise to open the doors promptly at 7:15 every morning.
If you have a child who needs to get in or out of a car seat, we ask that you either put the car seat on the passenger side of the car OR park in the lot next to the car line and walk your child in / pick them up. This is a safety concern as we have two very busy lanes of traffic.
Please keep your car tag hanging from your rear view until your child loads the car. We often have to call for them more than once.
Please pay attention to the staff as we work to pull every car up as far as we safely can.
We dismiss every day at 2:30. By 2:50 we are usually in the office with late students. If you arrive after 2:50 you will have to come inside the office and sign your child out.
Thank you so much for your help! We pride ourselves on having a very efficient arrival and dismissal process that keeps all safe.
Talent Show Auditions
Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022 & Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022
The talent show will be performed on
Thursday, October 6, at 6:00pm.
This is a fundraiser for the music department.
There will be an admission fee and concessions will be sold.
All proceeds will support NP’s Music program.
We are looking for unique and creative acts for the talent show. Skits, puppet shows, singing, playing an instrument, dancing, etcetera, are examples of ways students can share their talents. The following information should be helpful as you prepare for this exciting opportunity.
- Complete this Google Form to sign up for an audition. All forms must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 2. Mrs. Locke will email an audition date and time.
- All students who audition will stay after school until their audition time. They will be supervised in the auditorium by a teacher. After their audition, students can be picked up from the auditorium doors closest to the car dismissal line.
- Students may perform alone or in a group. All performers must be North Pointe 3rd-5th graders. A parent or adult may be part of a group, but no younger siblings or younger students.
- Students may audition for more than one act.
- Props and costumes are encouraged, to make the act more exciting. You MUST have the props and costumes at the auditions so they can be approved. If you want to wait to purchase costume pieces until after the auditions, a picture or full description needs to be provided with the audition form.
- Acts are limited to less than three minutes. Two minutes or less is preferred. Remember that you want to keep your audience captivated. Sometimes a shorter act is better received by the audience; therefore, we can fade music at a designated time. Vocal solos will typically be shortened by us to about one and a half minutes if not already done so; this normally includes one verse and refrain.
- Vocal solos must be performed with a karaoke accompaniment track. You can find these on YouTube for almost any song you would like to sing. We do not want students singing along with the voice of another singer on the recording. Include the link or file to your music in the audition form.
- Arrangements must be made with the music teacher ahead of time if special equipment is needed. We will have multiple microphones and a piano available
- Talent show acts must contain NICE words and APPROPRIATE messages ONLY. Messages containing references to drinking, drugs, cheating, or violence are some examples of inappropriate choices.
- We will have a panel of judges at the auditions. Click here to see the rubric used to score the auditions . The top scoring 25-30 acts will be selected to perform in the show.
Please email me if you have any questions. I look forward to the auditions!

From Mrs. Brackett -
I have been very lenient with the dress code in the past. I have explained to our 4th and 5th grade girls that their shorts, skirts, dresses, etc must come to their fingertips. Please help us abide by this! Thank you.
