Welcome to Year 2
All About Me
Heroes and Heroines
In Literacy we will be looking at the book Traction Man and making our own stories.
In Maths we will be looking at addition and subtraction, data handling and measuring.
P.E.
We have a wonderful new school uniform and all the children are looking very smart. Please ensure that all clothing which your child brings into school is clearly named; this enables us to return to the correct owners quickly.
Daily Routines
The things which your child needs to have with them:
Reading record and book ~ as part of their homework it is expected that your child reads at home to an adult on a regular basis (please make a note of this in the reading record).
Home contact book - this should come into school daily and be used for any simple messages. If the concern is of high importance, please make an appointment to see the teacher.
Dinner Money.- We encourage dinner money to come into school on a weekly basis. This should be in a sealed, named envelope.
Spelling
All children will be given spellings every week to learn. These will be based on words they are learning in phonics. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and will then be checked on a Friday.
Snacks and Drinks
All children in Foundation and Key stage one (year 1 & 2) are provided with a healthy snack. This will be given to them at morning playtime.
No other snacks need to be sent into school.
So that your child can have a drink during the day ~ please provide a named water bottle,
alternatively these can be purchased from the Office.
Hometime
We appreciate your patience and understanding at 3pm as we see your children out of school. Can we please reassure you that your child will not be allowed to leave school unless an adult is on the playground to collect them.
We are aware that on occasions children may be collected by someone different; it is vital that a member of staff is made aware of this (office, contact book) as children often forget.
