Administrator's Message
Dear Parents and/or Guardians:
It was not too long ago we were celebrating Advent and the ‘coming of Christ’. It is indeed hard to believe that we are entering into February! This is the midpoint of our school year. It is a blessing to see that the days are getting longer, the cold temperatures are hopefully receding and our students can now enjoy the beauty of winter that is so graciously been given to us by God. February is a very hectic month with Professional Development days, Family Day and a Winter Break. Please take the time to review the school calendar for February found on our website.
We are also entering a time where we want to hear from you! Grades 4 & 7 parents, you will be receiving letters from Alberta Education in our annual satisfaction survey. Our students in grade 4 and grade 7 will be surveyed as well as our teachers. These surveys provide valuable information in our school planning, show us areas where we are successful, and areas that require improvement and our attention. Please take the time to provide this valuable feedback. We have provided you the following link to our current school report card and school improvement plan. (www.stmarguerite.ca/download/148833). We are very proud of our Catholic school and the accomplishments we have achieved and look forward to achieving.
As Catholics, we all know that “Valentine’s day” wasn’t invented by the greeting card or chocolate selling companies- it’s the feast day of St. Valentine! It is widely recognized as a day for love, and devotion. While it seems that the exchange of "valentines" is more the result of secular custom rather than the memory of St. Valentine, there is a Christian message that should be remembered. The love of our Lord, depicted beautifully in the image of His most Sacred Heart, is a sacrificial, self-less, and unconditional love. Such is the love that each Christian is called to express in his or her own life, for God and neighbor. On this coming Valentine's day, looking to the example of this great Saint, each person should offer again his or her love to the Lord, for only by doing so can he properly love those who are entrusted to his care and any other neighbor. Each person should again pledge his love to those loved ones, praying for their intentions, and thanking them for their love in return. Never forget that Jesus said, "This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:12-13).
As a Catholic learning community we strive to provide a safe, loving and caring environment and assist our students in developing the skills, knowledge and values necessary to meet the challenges of the future. The ability to realize any school goal or priority relies on the partnership between home, school and parish. Please know that we are here to assist you, our doors are always open for constructive conversations.
