February is Black History Month!
Black History Month Trivia!
The celebration of Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
Do you know who the first African American elected to the Senate was? Check back next week for the answer!

The cost of the cards is $20 and LHS earns $15 per card sold. Each team will receive $7.50 for each card they sell and the athletic department will earn $7.50 as well. Click here to see a list of all of the local vendors that are supporting our fundraising efforts this year. Be sure to check out our key tag sponsors. For example, the Sport Clips key tag will cover the cost of the Raider Card.

- There is now a "Donation Item" to LHS's suite of items available on MySchoolBucks. Patrons can add a donation to their basket when they are shopping for other items. There is a field where they can request the funds to a certain organization.

Help Cure Blood Cancer!
LHS has two student candidates participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Students of the Year (SOY) fundraising campaign to raise funds and awareness for blood cancer patients & their families. My team, Team Fly4ACure has a fundraising goal of $50,000 and we need your help!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
Your donation not only supports my fundraising but the millions of patients and their families touched by blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible and extremely appreciated! Every penny counts!
