Canned Food Drive

Our food drive for the Christian Care Center will begin on October 26th. Go ahead and start collecting cans. We want to see how many families Watkins Elementary can feed this year! We are working hard this year to focus not on the number of cans we bring in but the number of families we can feed with those cans.

Our goal is to provide 150 families with enough food for an entire week. Let's show our community how much we care about them!

Brown Paper Bag Project

Your child will be bringing home a brown paper bag. This bag is for them to give to someone they know such as a neighbor, grandparent, or friend. Our goals is for our students to share with that person how there are families in the community who need our help and that we can help them by providing them with food. The person they give the bag to needs to fill the bag with canned or dry goods. Then you can pick it up from them and return to Watkins starting on October 26th. This is in addition to the cans you donate from your own family. We think it is important for the students to practice sharing with others about how we can be caring and giving members of our community. This project will give them that opportunity to verbalize our community's needs to someone they know!

Look for a video clip that will be posted on Facebook on Tuesday explaining the Brown Paper Bag Project!
