November BUZZ
The Prince Charles School
Dear Families at Home,
It was wonderful to see so many families out to support their children at our Second Annual Turkey Trot. The Grade 1 and 2 students practised running without stopping during the months of September and October. The week following Thanksgiving, the Primary students participated in the Turkey Trot race. The students did an excellent job running the whole way and the staff were so proud of their efforts!
We were very excited to open our new Makerspace this month. The entire student body had voice and choice in renovating our library to become a space more suitable to the 21st Century Learner. On Global Maker Day, the students and staff had an opportunity to engage in STEM challenges and explore the opportunities available in this space. It was a hub of activity and the level of student engagement and enthusiasm was infectious. Through Twitter, we look forward to communicating the different ways our students are innovating and creating in this space. If you have materials that you wish to donate to this space please send them in. We will be having a Colour House Challenge to see which Colour House can send in the most materials for our Makerspace this month. More information on the items we are looking for will follow. Thank you for considering donating to this event.
Later this week, we will be sending you home a copy of our School Improvement Plan goals in the areas of Literacy, Numeracy and School Climate. A lot of work has gone into sifting through report card data, EQAO data, Tell Them From Me Data and classroom assessments at our first two PA Days. We believe it is important that families at home know what we are working on at the school. If you have any questions about these goals or anything else happening at the school please feel free to speak to your child's teacher or connect with me at the main office.
Here's to another great month of learning!
