2015 YA March Madness Tournament of Books Champion
2015 Teen Lit Con (Twin Cities)
Shakopee students have a great opportunity! The purpose of this day is to celebrate teen literature, promote reading and writing, and to create a community of readers by connecting teens and authors. Shakopee Schools is providing bus transportation to and from the event. Students attending will need to be at the high school prior to 9:00 a.m. when the bus will depart for Henry Sibley High School. The bus will return to Shakopee High School by 5:00 p.m. There will be concessions and books for sale. Please plan to bring money accordingly.
Sign up by May 1 to reserve your spot on the bus and experience an awesome day meeting authors and building a community of teen reading enthusiasts!

10:00 – Teen Lit Con Kickoff Author Panel: Start your day with authors Gayle Forman, Matt de la Peña, E. Lockhart and Gene Luen Yang! Teen Lit Con’s national authors will be introduced with this fun, fast-paced panel discussion to help you plan your day.
11:00 – Choose Your Own Session:
- Airbenders & Me: Cartoonist & Author Gene Luen Yang, author of the Airbenders book series, explains why the original show was the best-written American animated series ever produced and more.
- Minnesota Authors!: Jonathan Friesen, Patrick Jones and Pat Schmatz talk books and field questions.
- Writing Workshop: First time author, Rebecca Hahn, shares her writing process and answers your questions.
- Introduction to Spoken-Word Poetry: Learn the art form from a National Slam Poet Champion, Guante.
- What to Read Next: Laura Lanik, the Book Snob blogger, will book talk about hot new reads.
- Create-O-Story: Group story-creation? Yes! Try Ross Nervig’s field-proven cure for writers block. It’s great for writers but also fun and inspiring for everyone.
