Week of November 15th
Hello Husky Families-
Please remember that student attendance is very important to the success of your child in the remote learning environment. If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please call the school office at 708-795-2327 and report the absence.
We have received an at home math kit as well as a Logitech Crayon (stylus) to support learning for your student. We will have all supplies ready to be picked up beginning on Monday. Please come to the front door and let us know your child’s name and homeroom and we will bring these supplies to you. The hours for pick up will be next week Monday-Friday from 10-3. We are excited to get these supplies in the students hands and know they will be excited to start exploring with them as well. The Logitech Crayon is an expensive tool that will need to be taken care of very carefully. Mr. Gonzalez and teachers are currently going over expectations on how to use this tool appropriately, please make sure you have a conversation with your child as well.
We also still have picture orders in the office waiting to be picked up as well. When you come to the building next week make sure to mention if you still need your pictures as well. If you ordered pictures from Van Gogh they have been delivered and are ready for pickup in the school office. If your student had a picture taken but you didn’t order, it’s not too late. Call the school office for your unique photo code to place an order. If you would still like your student’s picture taken it’s not too late for that either, we will have retakes on December 1st. This will be the last opportunity for your student to be included in their class photo composite.
I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is already next week. On behalf of the staff of Hiawatha I would like to let you know how thankful we are for each of you and the commitment we have observed between school and home during this difficult school year. This pandemic has forced us all to take a look at all the little things that we have to be thankful for and we are beyond thankful for our students. They put a smile on our face each day. We miss seeing them in our building learning, playing and growing together and look forward to the day that we can safely have everyone back together again.
Thank you for continuing to do your part to stop the spread of Covid-19 in our community. Please stay cautious next week as we are off of school for the week. I know the Hiawatha Huskies can help do our part to help stop the spread of this virus in our community. Please remember to always wear your mask, wash your hands, practice social distancing and avoid large gatherings. Stay safe and healthy Huskies!
Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving break with your family!
