WBMS Friday Notes

Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
Our week was filled with cumulative finals, projects, unit tests, and some fun! Thank you to all our grandparents who joined us this morning for our grandparent breakfast; the gigantic smiles, laughter, and snuggles brought an extra special delight to our school. Also, thank you to our PTA for sponsoring the event, BETA club members for serving our guests, and our performing arts students who entertained the crowd and shared their musical gifts. It was quite a show!
Recently I have been reminded how very fragile life is and how lucky we are to be alive and able to make a positive impact on our world. When I think about all I am grateful for, I always include WBMS. We are so fortunate to be part of this learning community, and I deeply appreciate the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the enthusiasm of our students.
It’s been a full semester. I am delighted by our students’ hard work and growth, and I wish you all a restful and fun-filled winter break!

FREE entertainment and learning over the winter break!
Reading (and listening and viewing) over the holidays can be easier than ever with digital options from Webb Bridge, Fulton County Schools, and the Atlanta Fulton Public Library System (AFPLS). Digital audio and eBooks are available in Sora and MackinReader as school and district resources with student ID and password.
Extend your family’s entertainment and learning opportunities! The entire family can enjoy books (read or heard), movies, magazines, music, and comics FREE with an active AFPLS library card. (Note that some of these resources range from preschool to adult content.) Although the Ocee library branch is currently closed, their staff has agreed to process card applications for our students received in our media center by December 18th OR your family can get (or renew) cards at Alpharetta or Milton library branches. Students should stop by the WBMS media center to complete an application and get their FREE public library card today!
Need help navigating the apps and online resources? Download SORA, MackinReader, and Hoopla apps to your personal device and Library STREAM Council students will be available to help you learn how to find GREAT stories next week; listen to morning announcements for details on days and times.

FBLA
Our FBLA chapter concluded the first semester with a very successful community service project. Over $200 in gift cards from Kroger, Publix, Target and Walmart were collected for needy families in our Webb Bridge area. The gift cards were given to the WBMS counselors who will take care of distribution. A reminder that the evening of January 16 will be the Regional Leadership Conference awards ceremony at Alpharetta High School. All members who took part in the online testing events are invited to attend. We will hold a one-week membership drive from January 6 – 10 for any student who would like to join our chapter and compete in the State Leadership Conference (SLC). Students should listen to the Jaguar Morning News for further details, or check our FBLA website at https://wbms-fbla.weebly.com. Competition information for the SLC will be posted on the website over the holiday break. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday!
