GHS Weekly Update

September 19th - September 23rd

Hi Team Grissom,

"The single greatest effect on student achievement is the effectiveness of the teacher." - Harry Wong

This Friday, we will have an early dismissal at 11:30 am, then teachers will report to designated schools for professional development from 1:00 - 3:30. During the half-day PD sessions this week, and again on October 26th, teachers of high school core subjects will meet together as a PLC to create common assessments which will be used as semester final exams.

These final exams will be administered through the Schoolnet platform. During this process, teachers by course, will review the previously created Schoolnet benchmark two and select appropriate questions from the benchmark to add to the pool of questions from which the common assessment will be created for each subject. Core teachers are also encouraged to submit questions to be included on the common assessment. These questions will be vetted at the meetings and added to the pool of questions. A blueprint of the number of questions from each standard to be included on the common assessment will also be created at these PLCs. A committee of teachers will then select questions from the pool of questions which will be included on the common assessment which will be taken at all schools.

Below, you will find a bell schedule for Friday. For the first semester, we will report to periods 1, 2, 3 and 4. Second semester, we will report to periods 1, 5, 6, 7. Also, you will find the PD Schedule for Friday. Please report to your designated location. Note: All PD sessions will begin promptly at 1:00.
