Anorexia
Description:
Is an eating disorder characterized by an abnormally low body weight, with an intense fear of gaining weight. The person suffering from anorexia also has a distorted perception of body weight.
Symptoms:
- Extreme weight loss
- Thin appearance
- Abnormal blood count
- Fatigue
- Insomnia
Long Term Effects:
- Anemia
- Heart problems
- Bone loss
- Kidney problems
- Suicide
Bulimia
Description:
Is when someone eats large amount of food and tries to purge the extra calories in an unhealthy way.
Symptoms:
- Lack of control over eating
- Secrecy surrounding eating
- Going to bathroom after meals
- Smell of vomit
- Discolored teeth
Long Term Effects:
- Teeth decay
- Osteoporosis
- Swollen salivary glands
- Low body temperature
- Inflammation or tears of the esophagus
Binge Eating
Description:
Is when a person frequently eats large amounts of food and feel unable to stop eating.
Symptoms:
- Eating even you're full or not hungry
- Eating until you're uncomfortably fool
- Feeling depressed, disgusted, ashamed, guilty or upset about your eating
- Frequently eating alone or in secret
- Eating rapidly during binge episodes
Long Term Effects:
- Stroke
- Blindness
- Kidney Disease
- Amputation due to poor circulation
- Coronary heart disease
