Notification Information - School Closings, Delays, Early Dismissals
The Methacton School District utilizes the SchoolMessenger system of emergency notification in the event of a weather related school schedule change. In the event of a school closing, early dismissal or late arrival, you will be notified via the primary phone number the district has in our student accounting system, unless you edit your preferences within the SchoolMessenger Contact Manager. PLEASE NOTE: In the event that you do not receive a phone call before 5:45 a.m., and the weather seems inclement, be sure to utilize any of these other methods to verify the status of the school day. While SchoolMessenger is a very reliable system, no system is completely fail-safe, and so a variety of back-up measures are in place.ONLINE: Details regarding any delay, closure or early dismissal will be posted to the district home page.E-MAIL and TEXT MESSAGE: You may register to the website to begin receiving e-alerts from the Methacton School District website - when school closings occur, you will receive an e-mail to the registered e-mail address, and a text message if you select that option. Volunteering at our school 2013-2014!
Please remember that we have changes to our school volunteer policies and procedures. Methacton’s school volunteers are a critical and valued part of our home school community – many of the programs, activities, and special events that take place in our schools are totally dependent upon the support of our parent and community volunteers. Many of these changes are in line with our school safety and emergency preparedness initiatives. While this will lengthen the amount of time it takes to become an approved Methacton volunteer, we know that our families support initiatives that are designed to keep your students safe while in our care. These changes, as outlined by Board Policy 916 (revised February, 2013 – as below), are:All volunteers will need clearances to volunteer in any capacity including but not limited to: lunch room, holiday parties, homeroom helpers, and field trip chaperones. The process to obtain clearances, obtain a TB test and become Board approved may take up to three months. Therefore, please begin the process as soon as possible to be ready for September!
