Lindsey Weekly Update
February 26, 2021
Message from Mrs. Bellan
We would like to refine a few of our building procedures. Beginning, Monday, March 1st, please be advised that we will proceed with the following changes:
Morning Arrival:
- All students exiting the busses will be directed to enter the main doors.
- All parent drop-off students will remain the same.
- All students exiting the building for busses should come out the main doors.
- All parent pickups should exit out the 4th or 5th-grade doors.
It has been wonderful to see more hours of sunlight. Spring will be right around the corner. With that, please continue to reinforce good sleep habits with your children as there can be a tendency at this time of year to burn the candle at both ends. Well-rested children are essential for the work we are requiring of them at school. Again, we will continue to communicate how students are performing as we make our last big push for the preparations for our upcoming Spring State Testing. We sincerely appreciate your partnership to help support your children in these critically important academic endeavors.
Warmly,
Meagan

Reading/Math Monthly Calendar
Who: All Students Grade K-5
What: Beginning in February each student will be given a calendar where they can record the number of minutes they are completing academic work at home. At the end of each month, students will total their accrued minutes and will complete a Google Form to earn prizes. This will be done in class. Prizes will be sponsored by PTO and will include a special key chain with "brag tags" that can be earned each month.
When: We will begin February 1st and students should begin logging time on the paper calendar they spend reading, practicing math facts, homework, or completing IXL activities.
Why: Students at Westwood will have a monthly goal of 500 minutes and Lindsey students will have a goal of 600 minutes. For our WW students, this equates to 20 minutes 5 days a week and for Lindsey students, we hope all students are reading a minimum of 20 minutes a day and spending at least 10 minutes on Mathematics.
How: In class on 2/26 and 3/1, students will complete a Google Form to document their minutes. We will pass out prizes to all students who met the established goal later next week! We appreciate your partnership in this endeavor as well as our participation with PTO and student council to make this exciting for our kids!
Don't forget to submit your reading minutes for some great incentives.
Students will be doing this in class. In case they are absent or didn't get to do it in class, here is a link. Please only complete once!

Given COVID-19, we are trying to make more of our everyday processes electronic and more efficient. These will replace the previous paper form we had.
