Thank you to those families who attend All Student Orientation. If you were unable to attend, please verify or change your household information by logging into your Campus Portal account. (Access the instructions here). The link to the Campus portal website can be found here. If you need additional assistance, please call the CHS main office at 531-299-2660.

• Please have your child return any paperwork that was not turned in at ASO to their Eagle Time teacher.
  
• Students who did not attend ASO will be able to have their pictures taken during a picture re-take date on August 31.
  
• Student schedules are now available via the student portal. Schedule adjustments have been made since ASO, so students should check their portal prior to coming to the building on the first day of school. If you have any questions about your student's schedule, please feel free to contact your child's counselor. Counselor assignments can be found in the School Counseling Corner update below.
  

• If you have historically filled out the Free and Reduced Meal Application, you will need to fill out the Educational Benefits Form instead. This form can be accessed via the School Cafe website, found here.
• At CHS, there are no required school supplies. We suggest each student come to school, prepared to learn, with their school-issued iPad, a folder and notebook for each class, and pens and pencils. Teachers will communicate any specific supply needs for their courses with students during the first days of school. If your child needs support with school supplies, please let any adult in the building know, and we will help.
  

The safety of our student's is our top priority. To that end, a parent or legal must come inside the building and speak to an attendance secretary to to excuse their student from school so that the adult's identify can be verified.

The Attendance office will issue a pass for the student to be let out of class to meet their parent/guardian.

No student will be let out of the building based on a phone call, alone.

A parent/guardian must come inside the building to check their student out of school.

Drop Off/ Pick Up

If you are dropping of or picking up your child at CHS, please do so off of the South side or Northwest side of the building. If you are using the South side of the building, please pull up next to the curb and let your child out and/or wait for your child. Do not block the ORBT bus stop with your vehicle. If you are using the Northwest side of the building, please do not pull past the Stop sign on Davenport street. You do not need to pull into the staff parking lot. Once your child gets out of or into your vehicle on Davenport St, please turn onto 22nd street, and then leave campus.

Parking

There is no student parking available. Seniors were assigned parking based on the lottery that took place last spring. If you have questions about the senior parking lottery, please contact Mr. Locken at robert.locken@ops.org.

ORBT

Please note that Central High School is very well served by public transit, including Omaha Metro’s Rapid Bus Transit (ORBT) line. Please consider utilizing this popular option throughout the school year to ease traffic congestion and parking needs around Central. A Park and Ride lot is available at the Westroads Transit Center with additional stops along Dodge and Douglas Streets. To reach Central, the eastbound ORBT will drop you off at 19th and Douglas, and you will board at 20th and Dodge to head west. Gain some time and skip the pickup line on Dodge after school by having your student depart Downtown Omaha on ORBT. OPS Bus Lane

The OPS bus lane is located on 20th Street. Any student receiving OPS bus transportation will board their bus on 20th street. Students receiving door-to-door transportation will board their buses on the West side of the building near the "Eagle" statue.

The Central counseling team would like to welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 school year!! The counseling department has had a few changes over the summer!! First, our offices were remodeled. We are still located on the first floor, but our main entrance is now on the 3-side, Room 131. Our College and Career Center has also moved to the first floor and is located in Room 134 – just inside the west entrance to Central. Mrs. Meyers, our college counselor will office in there and be available to students needing assistance with college applications, scholarship applications, FAFSA information, ACT testing information and general college/career help. All of the other counselors will be located in room 131. Mr. Ron Moore and Mr. John Flemming retired at the end of the 2022 school year so are excited to welcome Mr. Jeremy Cisco and Ms. Diane Pfeiffer to our team! With this addition, Mrs. Synowiecki will be transitioning to the EL counselor. Below are the counselor assignments based on your student’s last name.

On Friday, August 26th, the Central High Foundation will be unveiling a statue in honor of CHS alum Gale Sayers. Read more about the event, and Gale Sayers, in the Omaha World Herald article found here . We'd love to have you join us for the unveiling and football game!

The CHS Cheerleaders and Marching Band will be participating in the Dundee Day Parade on Saturday, August 20! The parade begins at 10:30 am.
