PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
To Our Navin Family & Friends,
It was so wonderful to see so many of you at Open House last week, and even more wonderful to welcome our kids back to school! So many smiling joyful faces and hugs...sure makes my heart happy!
Just a reminder: All elementary buildings have moved start and dismissal times BACK five minutes this year, in order to accommodate bus schedules. School doors open at 8:50am. Tardy bell rings at 9:10am. Dismissal of Walkers, Car Riders and SACC/Day Care is 3:55pm. Thanks for your patience!
As you know, we had all of our students in grades 1-4 attend school together on Friday, and on Monday, our Alternative Kindergarten and regular Kindergarteners will be joining us for their first school day at Navin! Reminder:
- Alternative K and Kindergarten parents will be allowed to walk their child to class on Monday, August 22nd. Starting Tuesday, August 23rd, we ask that parents do NOT walk their student to class. Again, there will be extra staff members available to assist our Kindergarteners to their classrooms.
- Alt-K and Kindergarten parents...we know it can be traumatic to drop off your babies at school for the first time! Or...you might be a veteran parent who's jumping for joy! Either way, after you walk your child to his/her classroom, head on down to the cafeteria for our PTO sponsored "Tears and Cheers" breakfast!! (*See below for more info!0
Kids...don't forget to check out storytime below, this week with Mrs. Nielsen, Navin Kindergarten Teacher!! Also...Complete the survey to find out which season is the most popular!! (Parents can join in the fun too!!)
Thanks again for your support and continued involvement in our school!
Yours in Partnership,
Lynette Lewis, Principal

SPOTLIGHT ON THE NEW NAVIN STAFF!
Mrs. Riley Otto, Preschool Teacher
I have been in education for 8 years and this is my second year in Marysville. I like to read, listen to music, and garden. I love watching football and hockey. Currently I like cheering on the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Red Wings.
Mrs. Brittany Newcomb, Preschool Teacher
I have been married 2 years to my wonderful husband. I have 3 kids, 2 daughters and 1 son.
I enjoy traveling, going to concerts, rooting for the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, Blue Jackets and Ohio State.
Mrs. Kelly Barron, AU Teacher
My name is Kelly Barron, and I am so excited to be the teacher in the AU room for Kindergarten and first grade at Navin! My husband and I recently moved to Ohio, along with our three dogs.
I have been in the field of Special Education for 20 years now and have loved every moment. I most recently taught in a private school for students with an Autism diagnosis and severe behavioral, social, and academic needs. However, I have held roles such as Lead Teacher, Program Director, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Behavior Specialist.
I love music and have played the piano since I was six years old. I have played a little guitar too, & enjoy reading, running, biking and being outside as much as possible! Football season is what gets me through winter. Even though I am in Ohio now, I will always be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan!
Mrs. Brittany Fox, Preschool Teacher
Hello! My name is Brittany Fox and I will be teaching Preschool this year at Navin Elementary. My family moved to Marysville last year and we are very excited to call Marysville home! I am married to my wonderful husband Matt, and we have two daughters, Eleanor and Eloise.

STUDENT WALKER/DROP-OFF/PICK-UP PROCEDURES
- To ensure safety, there cannot be a line of traffic on County Home Rd., waiting to turn on Scott Farms Blvd.
- Please drive through Scott Farms; turn left into the Navin Parking Lot from Scott Farms Blvd.
- Enter the line waiting to drop-off students.
- Please pull forward so that no spaces are left between cars. *The exception to this request: do not block or cover the striped lines painted near the drive-over dip in the sidewalk separating the parking lot into two sides. This is a crosswalk for individuals with disabilities (i.e. walkers, wheelchairs, etc.)
- Students must exit their car on the SIDEWALK SIDE ONLY & proceed to their assigned entrance of the school. Adults will be present to direct students.
P.M. Pick-Up Procedures
- To ensure safety, there cannot be a line of traffic on County Home Rd., waiting to turn on Scott Farms Blvd.
- Please drive through Scott Farms; turn left into the Navin Parking Lot from Scott Farms Blvd.
- Enter the line waiting to pick-up students.
- Staff will take your child's name and will walk students outside and directly to their cars. Students must enter cars from the sidewalk side ONLY
- Once your student is safely inside your car, please wait for the car in front of you to move forward and follow it out of the parking lot, turning RIGHT onto Scott Farms Blvd. PLEASE do not pull out of the line to go around a car!!! We do not want anyone to hit students or staff!
- DO NOT park in the parking lot and call your students out of the pick-up line. Again, no one is to run between cars, as this creates a HUGE safety issue. If you cannot wait the 7-10 minutes for car dismissal, please park your car, enter the building, and sign your student out in the Office.
- There are a few parking spots near the front of the Pick-Up line marked for individuals with disabilities. Parents of our students with disabilities may park in these spots during dismissal to make their pick-up process easier. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES AT ANY TIME if you do not have a child with a disability. Thank you!
Walker Procedures
- Staff will lead walkers to the Walker Exits (back doors) and will supervise them until they reach the sidewalk.
- THERE IS NO WALKER PICK-UP!!!
- If you are picking up your child, please do so in the Pick-Up Line.
- If you designate your child as a Walker and then arrange with him/her to pick them up off of school property, we are not responsible once your child walks off of school property.
- However, if you are asking your child to cross Scott Blvd. in the middle of the lines of pick-up traffic, YOU MUST GET OUT OF YOUR CAR AND CROSS YOUR CHILD SAFELY. Please DO NOT CALL YOUR CHILD TO CROSS BETWEEN THE WAITING LINES OF CARS! This is very dangerous and could result in an accident/injury. You must be with your child if he is crossing Scott Blvd. away from a crosswalk.
- Again...we encourage you to enter the pick-up line & follow those procedurs to ensure safety.
