In Person NWEA Testing
Students need to use devices to take the NWEA Map Growth Test. We have Chromebooks available here at school for all students to use. If you would prefer to send a device with your child to school for them to use for the assessment, you are welcome to do so. If you choose to send a laptop or Chromebook from home, we ask that you please complete the NWEA Device Readiness Check at home at least a day prior to your child's first testing session to make sure your device settings match NWEA requirements. To complete the readiness check, simply go to the NWEA Device Readiness website on the device your child will be bringing to school for testing and follow the directions provided. This site will check your device settings, and if there are any issues, it will walk you through how to change the settings needed for testing. Sending a device with your child for NWEA testing is completely optional. We have plenty of Chromebooks here in the building for all students to use for NWEA testing. Rest assured that sanitation protocols are in place to sanitize each Chromebook after they are used by students.
Kindergarten and first grade students wear headphones during NWEA testing. If you prefer your child to use their own headphones, please send them to school with your child on their testing days. Again, we will have enough headphones on hand for all students to use. The headphones are shared devices that will be sanitized between uses.
If you would like to learn more about NWEA MAP Growth Testing, please watch the NPS NWEA Screencast below. Mr. Baughman, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, explains what NWEA is and how this assessment helps us to identify what your child is ready to learn.
Virtual NWEA Testing
We ask that during testing students have an adult nearby to help resolve technology issues. Since the purpose of NWEA is to help us to identify what your child is ready to learn, it is very important that students answer all questions on their own, without support or guidance.
Your child will take NWEA during an active Zoom session. Teachers will proctor NWEA and monitor students via Zoom. For this reason, we ask that student cameras remain on and all students keep themselves on mute throughout the testing session. All communication during NWEA will happen through the Zoom chat and will only be between students and their teacher.
Your child's teacher may choose to take students through a "Virtual Dry Run". During the dry run, teachers will take students through the process of checking their devices, accessing the NWEA website, and logging in. Students will NOT answer any NWEA questions during the dry run. It would be helpful if an adult could be on hand during the virtual dry run to support students while going through the steps. If students are successful logging in during the dry run, they are VERY likely to be able to successfully log in on their testing day.
If you would like to learn more about NWEA MAP Growth Testing, please watch the NPS NWEA Screencast below. Mr. Baughman, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, explains what NWEA is and how this assessment helps us to identify what your child is ready to learn.

Silver Springs Elementary Return to School Plan for Students and Families
This is a lengthy document that has a great deal of information about what the Return to School will look like. Including, important information about arrival and dismissal.
*************************************************************
Arrival to School in the Morning
Please see the videos below:
1. How to use the Carpool Lane (8:35-8:45 a.m.)
Morning Arrival:
- Please pull your car all the way forward to the end of the loop, come to a complete stop, and allow students to exit the vehicle. Pulling all the way forward will help to alleviate the back up onto Silver Springs Drive, particularly on the days that it is cold, rainy, or snowy.
- Have your child(ren) kissed and ready to exit the vehicle when you reach the unloading zone. Please stay in your car. Only children should exit the vehicle. Students should only exit the vehicle on the passenger side.
- The second bell (tardy) rings at 8:46 a.m. and all doors will be locked.
Afternoon Dismissal:
- Please pull your car all the way forward to the end of the loop, come to a complete stop, and allow students to get into the vehicle. Pulling all the way forward will help to alleviate the back up onto Silver Springs Drive, particularly on the days that it is cold, snowy, or rainy.
- Display your Family Name Card on the right side of your dashboard for easy recognition.
- Pick up your child(ren) in the designated loading zone only.
- Do not exit your vehicle to load your child(ren) as these are moving loading zones only.
Here's to a safe and seamless arrival and dismissal.

NEW THIS YEAR - All School Lunches Must Be Pre-Ordered
Families must pre-order by 9 am of the day of pick up or delivery. Meals must be pre-ordered using the District’s Nutrislice online program, or through the Nutrislice app, available on the Apple Store or Google Play. Additional information, including a video tutorial: How to Pre-Order Lunch Online Video, about the Nutrislice pre-ordering process is available on the Food Service Department website.
Please note - The video shows how to do a pick-up for virtual students, but it is the same process to order for in-person students and their lunch will be delivered to their classroom at Silver Springs. All you need to do is click the tab at the top that says delivery and select Silver Springs.
Where are the lunch meals being made available?
In-person learners must pre-order their lunch which will be delivered to the students’ classrooms. If you have multiple students attending in-person, parents will need to order meals for each of their students individually in Nutrislice. Please make sure that you choose the correct school and the correct classroom/teacher for each of your students when ordering for multiple students.
Online learners must also pre-order their lunch. Online learners' lunches can be picked up in the west parking lot (Athletics Department) entrance of Northville High School (45700 Six Mile Rd.) between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm each school day.
