Gulf Elementary School 2019-2020
Instruction-At-Home Resources for March 23-27
A Resource for Families
Dear Families,
What a unique time we are in. We recognize how incredibly difficult this situation is for many families. With schools closing for extended periods of time, we want you to know that we are here to support you as best we can. We will continue to share information from the School District of Lee County as it becomes available. We encourage you to take care of yourselves, your family, and be cautious. The list of resources will be updated daily. We are so thankful for all of the teachers, administrators, and education companies offering these resources completely free to support parents, educators, and students during this challenging time.
To support you in this time, you will also find links with resources to help you talk to your child about COVID-19 and to help ease their fears.
We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way.
With Great Appreciation,

LAUNCHPAD RESOURCES
- OVERDRIVE (found under the “Instructional Apps” folder): I love this app! Did your child forget to bring an AR book home? Was the AR book not a good fit for your child? This app brings you to the Lee County Public School’s Digital Library. From here your child can search for and read library books at home without ever leaving the house!
Compass Learning (found under the “Instructional Apps” folder): Compass Learning provides your child with a personalized math, reading, science, and social studies learning path that can be both monitored and manually altered by the teacher. You can also view your child’s Compass Learning portfolio to see how they are performing on assignments.
Pearson SuccessNet (found under the “Instructional Apps” folder): Pearson SuccessNet is where your child’s main weekly reading story can be found and where students will go every Friday to complete their graded weekly reading test. Students will read the story in class throughout the week, but students are also able to use this website to practice reading their weekly story at home or to get caught up when absent from school.
ThinkCentral (found under the “Instructional Apps” folder): ThinkCentral will connect you to your child’s math textbook, extra math worksheets, math tools, and videos to help explain math homework.
HMH Central (found under the “Instructional Apps” folder): HMH Central is also known as “FASTT Math”. This is a fun website to help students master their math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students will be moved on along as they master each set of facts.
Google Apps (found under the “Google Apps” folder): This is a folder containing all of the Google Apps available to your child. There are many great ways that teachers and students use Google Apps in the classroom. Parents do not have direct access to these applications outside of Launchpad, but can monitor their child(ren)’s Google Apps by signing in as instructed below.

SCHOOL MESSENGER COMMUNICATE:
The School District of Lee County uses School Messenger Communicate to share important messages about your child’s education. The system allows us to call, text and email you. To receive messages from your child’s school, you need to create a free account. Just go to www.leeschools.net/parent_portal to sign up. In order to receive text messages you must opt in by texting YES, OPTIN or SUBSCRIBE to 67587. The District is not allowed to send you texts unless you opt in.
FOCUS:
Access your child’s grades, attendance and assignment information through the FOCUS Parent Portal. Sign up for a free account at https://lee.focusschoolsoftware.com/focus/ to stay connected to your student’s education!
PEACHJAR:
Our school uses a communication tool called “Peachjar” to send school-approved flyers to you electronically. We also post them on the school website (just click the Peachjar icon on our homepage to see them.) To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts. When you receive your first digital flyer, be sure to click “always display images.” This “green” initiative saves our school paper, reduces copy costs and removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers!
