REED On.......
REEDers are WINNERS!!! 2016-2017 Competitions
REED video Contests
The REED video contests provide students with a platform to share their creativity, love of reading, and values with a wide audience, using English as their medium of communication.
Statistics:
22 REED classes in 12 Participating JHS and High Schools, submitted videos for 2 different contests that were chosen from the videos created by hundreds of students in their schools.
Congratulations to the schools, the teachers, and their students who took up this challenge!!
Courage
This values-based contest provided participating classes an opportunity to collaborate on a project, considering the following issue: Ask a question about courage, and then answer it through your video, developing this answer in a creative manner, incorporating various elements to develop their message.
Students talked about the people and the community spirit, that allows us to strive to achieve our goals and become better people. They script, stage, hire actors, choose music, create jingles, banners, and much more!
Book Trailers
Like movie trailers, book trailers visually represent the tone and plot of a novel, in order to get readers interested in reading the novel. Using their 21st century executive skills to share their love of reading, students work in small groups to create these book trailers. They have fun discussing, scripting, setting, filming, uploading, viewing others’ trailers, and voting on the most successful book trailer.
When all is said and done, your students get to choose the next book they want to read, based on the recommendations of their classmates. What a wonderful way to encourage perpetual Reading For Pleasure in your classroom!!

The First National REED Spelling Competition
The Rationale
After looking for a way to get students involved and excited about spelling, we initiated the First National REED Spelling Bee!
To help pupils improve their spelling and increase their vocabularies.
To promote English by having a big National Event.
To have fun!
This is how it started, remember?
