Upcoming Professional Development
There is still time to join our early childhood beginning teacher cohort! All Aboard! Early Childhood Beginning Teacher Academy meets the unique needs of Pre-K, Kindergarten, and ECSE teachers in their first years in early childhood education. Participants will meet for five face-to-face sessions during the school year and receive two one-hour coaching sessions on their campus. We will focus on just-in-time tips to help new teachers succeed. Our first meeting is on September 15, 2022.
Children with healthy social-emotional skills are more likely to succeed in school, work, and life. The Pyramid Model is a framework of evidence-based practices for promoting young children's healthy social and emotional development. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions in the series.
Join us for the ECSE Afterschool Series on the first Wednesday of each month to learn and connect with other Early Childhood Special Education teachers. All sessions meet virtually via Zoom. Here are the topics for the fall semester:
- September 7 — Positive Adult Child Relationships
- October 5 — Visual Supports
- November 2 — Focus on Functional Skills
- December 7 — The Purpose of Play
Have an idea for an afterschool topic? Suggestions are welcome! Please email me at egroomer@esc11.net.
For Leadership
To provide support for early childhood leaders this year, ESC Region 11 will offer monthly Early Childhood Networking Meetings. These meetings include an opportunity to network with others in a similar position, share ideas about high-quality early childhood education, and receive important updates from TEA. Early Childhood and ECSE leadership are encouraged to attend.
If you are an ECSE Coordinator for your district or charter, please complete this short survey to update your contact information. This should be the person responsible for making decisions/ recommendations regarding ECSE for your district/charter.
Educator Resources
Birth to 3 Classroom Resources
Your one-stop shop for all CLI Engage Resources for Birth to 3 classrooms!
Find all the resources to support your three-year-old classrooms in one spot! This website includes progress monitoring tools (see below), professional development resources, instructional plans with targeted interventions, family engagement resources, and much more. Users will need to create a free account to access CIRCLE Activities and Materials.
One of the most common questions we get is about appropriate assessment tools for three-year-old ECSE students. Children's Learning Institute provides a free Developmental Milestone Checklist available in English and Spanish. This tool can help caregivers and teachers become aware of what skills are expected at what ages.
Family Corner
Books Beginning at Birth is a statewide program that provides young children from birth to age four and their families access to books and resources to support the development of early literacy skills and foster a love of reading.
- ALL families can access an open library of hundreds of high-quality digital children's books accompanied by videos and at-home literacy activities.
- Young children residing in opportunity zones are eligible to receive FREE print books sent to their homes or through a partner site in their community.
