Keeping our focus!!
We're almost there crew! Keep you focus on these last few days. Let's finish strong, keep kids in class, teach 'em up the best you can and don't let off the gas pedal until June 19. Keep driving your curriculum and bring our your best. We've got this! Breathe!
I hope you have a great long and relaxing weekend. The weather looks like it is going to cooperate with us a bit. I am taking today to tackle school work so that I don't fall completely off the charts with my workload. Sunday and Monday are going to be fun days. Hopefully I will get out there and go for a bike ride. Enjoy your time with family and go relax before we come back to school and tackle these last few weeks.
In The Know
Confidentiality - Let's please keep our wits about us when sending confidential information to the printer/copier in the library. There are forms that are being sent that contain private and confidential information which is also being left out for others to find unclaimed. Students often access this area as they perform work in the library. They must not come in contact with private educational records. Remember FERPA! Please be sure to to manage this information in a secure manner. Thank you for your efforts.
Staff Survey - This weekend I sent a link to your email that is asking for you to complete a survey regarding instructional practices. Each of these topics has been addressed in different capacities over the last three years, some definitely more than others. It is expected that we engage these strategies in our classrooms with increased frequency and fidelity. We (professional development team) will be working to plan professional development for the staff next year based on the responses that we get back. This is not a "gotcha!' survey. It is meaningful formative assessment that will inform next steps that we take as a staff. This needs to be completed prior to leaving for the summer. It should take less than 3 minutes to complete. Thank you for your attention to this.
Late Spring/Summer Prep for August - Curriculum Council discussed the desire top collaborate and share what each department will be teaching during the year. To that end we will be hosting a period of time for staff to do horizontal alignment of their curriculum with each department when we return to school for professional development days in August. Curriculum Council leaders will be sharing with each department what this looks like and how it will be disseminated. Essentially each course that is taught will need to have a scope and sequence drafted and ready to share with the staff when we return to school in August. this document should not be any longer than 1-2 pages and should outline the broad topics and themes that will be addressed in each course so that departments can find ways to be intentional about meaningful overlap. This concentration of effort can have strong and profound impacts on student learning. Please connect with your department leader or my self with any questions that you might have. We will discuss this on May 31st in our last staff meeting of the year as well.
Looking Forward

Kudos
Gabe Lemay - A family member shared with me about how impressive, professional, and dedicated he was during the 5A championships this last weekend. There were more than a few errors with the hosts, and Gabe was uncompromisingly positive, thankful, and professional. He was a role model for our kids! Mr. Lemay was observed taking time to congratulate every athlete who got off the bus. It was amazing. She could hear him even with her windows closed, talking to each student about their performance, how far they had come, and what they could accomplish next year. Well done to Coach Lemay!
Matt Myers - I would like to tip my hat to Matt Myers who has worked long and hard to help coordinate the AP and IB testing. This is a significant endeavor and has many moving parts. Additional thansk go out to Katy McAuliffe, Kym Ramsing, and Casandra Kamens whop have been instrumental as a support team making sure that our students are receiving everything they need to be successful. Congratulations on moving past this complex and demanding chapter in the year.
