Dear Families, You are doing such an incredible job helping the American Heart Association save lives! Thank you for doing your part to make a difference, because every dollar counts. With one week left until our event, there is still time to spread the word and raise money. Donations are due on March 2, 2018 JSA Gym Teacher Click here to visit my personal page. Click here to view the team page for Johnson School of Arts Cedar Rapids, IA - Jump/Hoops Click here to view the school page for Johnson School of Arts
Remember - if you raise just $5, you will earn Jax! AND if you receive a donation online, you will get Charger! But wait, it doesn't stop there, if you raise $40 online you will receive our new plush Disco! All these monsters come to life on your app!
Need help raising donations? Here are some quick and easy ideas to try!
1. Register and get a free glow in the dark wristband - It's new this year and can be brought to life when downloading the app! Challenge 10 or more friends to join you and donate! It’s a great way to spread the message of heart health and give others the opportunity to support you!
2. EMAIL - Login to your HeadQuarters and use the email tool to ask friends and family to support you with a donation. And we've made it easy for you by providing a pre-written fundraising letter! (Can your parents send an email to their co-workers for a donation?)
3. DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE APP and bring your monsters to life and fundraise on the go - Ask your parents to download the (free) Jump/Hoops app for iPhone or Android. Ask your Mom and Dad to share your fundraising page on Facebook, Twitter or by text!
Thank you and keep up the great work!

Volunteer at Financial Literacy Fair
We’re looking for volunteers to help students. No experience necessary!
From May 7-11 and May 14-18, 8th graders will participate in the Linn County Financial Literacy Fair at the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center in Hiawatha in the mornings. In class, students learn about life decisions that affect financial well-being. Based on their interests, they select a career, and determine a starting salary. Then they attend The Fair to face the reality of monthly bills for necessities (housing, transportation, food, etc.) and budgeting. When they have made their financial decisions, they’ll meet one-on-one with a financial counselor to do the math and discuss their choices! A brief volunteer training is provided before students arrive.
- May 14 from 8:45-11:45: Harding
- May 15 from 8:45-Noon: McKinley, Taft
- May 16 from 8:45-Noon: Franklin, Wilson
- May 17 from 8:45-Noon: Roosevelt
You’ll be amazed at how quickly students learn about financial challenges in life.
Come see how we’re working together to prepare young people for the future!
