Do not carry around your social security card or number, birth certificate, or passports. Close unwanted accounts and change passwords to sites often also, do not use the same password for more than one site.

To keep your credit card and ATM receipts safe you should keep them in a safe folder. You should keep these in a locked file cabinet or safe box. Some people like to keep their receipts so they can make sure their credit reports are correct. This is a good idea so you can match up everything you got over the year and will help you identify if someone else is using your bank account that you do not know about.
