Teamwork
Thank you for taking time and care to provide beneficial feedback so we can move our campus forward in a strong direction for the Spring semester. The month of February will be focused on increasing collaboration, communication, and pulling together as a team as we address some areas identified on Monday.
In order to be intentional on determining our student transfer population, a Student Transfer Commission is being created to review transfer applications for the upcoming school year. Current volunteer members include: L Morales, Mclendon, Beza, D. Miranda, and Rogers. If you would like to join this Commission or nominate someone, please let me know by Monday so the members can be finalized.
Another issue that was identified on Monday was the amount of instructional leadership members in the IB Prep and Preview sessions. Moving forward, please discuss as a grade level and decide who would like to attend the IB Prep and Preview sessions. As a grade level, y'all can decide to have all 4 instructional leadership members attend the PLC, or 3, 2, or 1 member - and also decide which member(s) you would like be present. I will be meeting with GLCs on Monday to schedule the PLC attendees.
In preparation for the upcoming state assessment, we will start having Saturday School on February 22, serving 3rd - 5th Grades. In order to serve all students, Saturday School areas are open to all teachers.
We have 4 areas that a teachers can serve in:
3rd Grade Bilingual Reading & Math
3rd Grade Gen Ed Math
4th and 5th Grade Gen Ed Math
4th and 5th Grade Bil Reading
Saturday School sessions are from 8 - 12pm (teacher hours 7:30-12:30) and this intervention will receive Title 1 funding for the teacher providing the service. If you decide to serve with Saturday School, the teacher of record will coordinate which students will be attending Saturdays and which specific skills should be focused on during the sessions so the intervening teacher will have plenty of guidance.
Please let me know if you would be willing to serve in Saturday School sessions so we can start coordinating groups of students.
Have a wonderful first week of February!!
