Snow Days Moving Forward (Reminder)
Indiana Winter is in full force, and that means there is always the possibility that school could be delayed or moved to virtual.
In the event that inclement weather precludes our doors from being open, John Glenn Schools will be utilizing eLearning Days instead of canceling school for the day.
For students at the primary level, teachers should have sent home eLearning Day packets or folders for your child(ren). For our older students, there will be more online, interactive activities fed through Canvas that students will need to complete.
With the cold and snow on its way in January, if you have a question as to how your child's teacher will utilize eLearning Days, please feel free to send them an email to clarify.
Winter is Here! (Reminder)
Winter is in full force!
Please remind your children that their clothes need to change as well. Coats, shoes, hats, gloves, etc. may be needed sooner rather than later!
If you need assistance in providing any type of clothing, please email Principal Fuller at pfuller@jgsc.k12.in.us
Similarly, as the snow begins to fall, please remember to keep it slow in the parking lot, both in the morning and afternoon.
We have a lot of very excited kids eager to both come to school and go home from school, and we want to make sure we are keeping them as safe as possible.
(RECURRING) WES Devices: Chargers, and Cords Going Home
If/when a child is sent home for COVID related reasons, we want to ensure that each student has everything they need to meet virtually with their class(es): This includes sending home a device, charging brick, and cord.
Our Tech Department does a wonderful job of ensuring that these items are placed in a Ziploc bag with a note for each child.
As a reminder, if the charging brick and cord are not returned upon your child's returning to school, for grades KG-2nd, a $5 fee for each the charging brick and cord will be assessed to your child's account. For grades 3-6, a $20 fee will be assessed for a missing Chromebook charging brick and cord.
If items are misplaced or forgotten, we will send home a reminder to return the item, but if the charging brick or cord is not returned within 48 hours, that $5 fee will be assessed until the items are returned.
If you have any questions, please contact Principal Fuller at pfuller@jgsc.k12.in.us
(RECURRING) Boys and Girls Club Information
Starting this school year, the JG Before and After School Program is transitioning into the Boys and Girls Club to provide before and after school care for our elementary students.
You should have received an email from Mr. Davis earlier this week, but if not, please click HERE for more information on the program.
With any new program, there will be some bumps along the way, but here are TWO UPDATES that will hopefully alleviate any stress:
- The wonderful individuals you have gotten to know with John Glenn B/A Care will be back as part of the Boys and Girls Club Program!
- The service will start our first day of school, Wednesday, August 11th
Please register for care as normal. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Mrs. Heather Harrison at hharrison@jgsc.k12.in.us

Mr. Fuller's Thoughts and Baby Updates!
Principal Fuller's Thoughts
I read a story this week that moved my heart, and I couldn't wait to share it with you.
The story is about a young boy named Bobby Herrera.
Bobby's parents were migrant workers, and every summer Bobby and his brother Ed would spend their days helping their parents work in the fields.
During the school year, Bobby and his brother were exceptional basketball players, and played on the varsity team for their high school.
The team would routinely stop at a restaurant/fast food place after long road games, and the entire team would each dinner together...
...the only thing is Bobby and Ed didn't have any money.
Instead, Bobby's mother would pack 'legendary' burritos for both boys to eat after their game...because they were so embarrassed with their lack of money, the brothers often ate together on the bus alone.
One night while the rest of the team ate inside, Bobby and Ed were enjoying their burritos when Coach T walked on the bus.
'Boys, I know you don't take kindly to handouts, and I don't expect anything in return, but I want to buy dinner for you both. Please come join us inside.'
The boys were stunned: They had never been shown that level of kindness before.
Coach T continued: 'The only thing I ask is that you pay it forward. When you encounter someone struggling later in life, you just have to do the same thing for another great kid like yourself.'
Bobby went on to say that it was this moment in his life that he knew he had purpose. Coach T acknowledged their struggle, but also offered kindness and a purpose.
Bobby Herrera let this moment kickstart his ambition, and he is now the co-founder and president of Populous Group as well as a best selling author.
The moral of the story is that we all sometimes feel unseen and/or stuck...but a moment of pure kindness can not only let someone know that you see them, but it can offer them purpose when they need it most.
