A Day of Interactive Learning

Deepening Clinical Skills for Psychotherapists

A workshop for practicing and/or training psychotherapists who are interested in deepening practical, in-session clinical skills with clients who are struggling with addiction.

This all day, interactive workshop will provide therapists with an evidence-based, hands-on training experience to deepen clinical skills and manage client planning and outcome.

While some of this workshop will include discussions of addiction theory and research, the majority of the workshop will focus on group interaction and experiential learning with an emphasis on role-playing client scenarios.

Topics to be discussed will include:

Motivational Interviewing

Creating client trust

Trauma and addiction

Stages of change

Developing a clinical style

Working with families and adolescents

Sean Meggeson, MA, is a full-time Psychotherapist working in Private Practice in Toronto. He holds a Master of Arts in Poetics and Creative Writing, as well as an Addiction Careworker Diploma and a Certificate in Addiction Studies. He is also currently training at The Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. Sean has over a decade of personal and professional experience with recovery and addiction and is passionate about sharing these experiences with others. Sean’s overall approach emphasizes client-centred growth combined with insight, creativity, and empathy.

Fee: $120.00 for practicing psychotherapists; $80.00 for training psychotherapists
