Heavenly Hats
Student Council will be hosting the annual Heavenly Hats Parade on Friday, October 5, 2018 to support the Heavenly Hats Foundation. This foundation provides brand new hats to cancer patients in need. Wristbands will be sold for $1 before school in the rotunda during the week of October 1-5. For this event, students will be allowed to wear a hat of their choice to school on Friday, October 5th as long as they are wearing their wristband. YOU MUST WEAR A WRISTBAND THAT DAY IN ORDER TO WEAR YOUR HAT. Please see Mrs. Ganther in room #1195 or via email at brittanymganther@katyisd.org for any questions.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
As many of you may already know, one of our own WCJH students, Connor Warfield, is currently battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL).
In an attempt to help bring awareness and raise donations to help with the family’s medical expenses, we have set up a fundraiser named "Connor’s Crusaders".
Please consider purchasing a t-shirt or making a donation to help bring awareness to childhood cancer and support a very special T-Wolf family.
Thank you for supporting us in our effort to raise awareness and to honor Connor. Please feel free to share the link!!

6th Grade Teachers Participate in Texas Lesson Study
The 6th Grade ELA team was selected as one of four teams in the district to participate in the Texas Lesson Study (TXLS) program as part of the TEA Strategic Plan 2017–2021 set forth by Commissioner Mike Morath.
TXLS is inquiry-based, job-embedded professional development where teachers work collaboratively to develop, teach, and assess research-based lessons. At the end of the program, these teachers will be published authors! Their teacher-created lessons, videos of the lessons, and more information about the TXLS program will be available on the Texas Gateway website.
In order for our teachers to complete the program we need a signed permission slip from all 6th grade parents to allow students to be recorded and to collect data (such as student work samples and assessment scores.) Student names and data will remain anonymous and access to any recorded videos will be password protected.
Yellow permission slips will be sent home on Monday, September 24th. Please return them ASAP. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the ELA Instructional Coach, Amanda Sager, at 281-234-0872.
