Boys Cross Country State Meet

Barr places 37th and Perreault Finishes 91

Martin Barr and Conor Perreault capped off a tremendous 2015 Cross Country season at the IHSA State Championship on Saturday, November 7th. While they may be disappointed with the final result, one race does not and should not define a season, one that showed improvement, growth, and experiential learning.

Martin finished the 3A boys race in 37th place in a time of 14:56 for 3 miles. Conor finished in 91st with a time of 15:24, a personal best time for Conor. It was both of their first time running in a cross country state meet. For Martin, he competed in the track state championships last spring in the 3200 meter run.

The two day experience was accompanied by 3 of their teammates who provided a lot of support and camaraderie. Our team visited a well known running store where we met with a professional runner. We also visited the Caterpillar Visitors Center where we learned about technology, production and engineering. Following the race, we had a team dinner at Giordanos with parents and team members.

The Boys Cross Country team had a great season where we met our goals, gained tremendous improvement and built upon a tradition and legacy in running. We are already geared up for winter training in preparation for the track season and/or cross country national competition. Great job Niles North, you make Coach Roberts and I very proud to be your coach!
