The Scoop
Special Services Update - August 28, 2023
Communication, The Scoop & You!
Hello TISD #StarsofSpecialServices!! We have the roles of a lifetime to make a difference in so many lives... I can't wait to see how your story plays out and and to see you #shine in your roles this school year!
The Scoop is a place for you to make sure you are in the know and have all the information you need. You are responsible for the information in the SCOOP. If you need clarification, please reach out to your Student Support Specialist or me.
You are all doing an amazing job and service to our district with all of your communication to families and staff. Keep building that community trust with parents, students and staff and over communicate!

#StarsofSpecialServices !!! YOU are appreciated!!!
Ten Day No Show Rule
Please remember the talk to your campus registrar regarding students who have not shown up to school who are currently students who receive special education services. Use this guidance to help you.
Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading (UPAR)
Looking for evidence of the impact of auditory support to print? Look no further than the Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading! Now even easier to set up. Students are already rostered and simply log in to the website, input their grade level, and go!
Remember that UPAR is an assessment that determines if students benefit from auditory supports. We give it to new students and any students that may have changes in their need for auditory supports. It is never a harmful thing to give this assessment. It is another piece of data that helps us better support students.
Here is the video for those who need a refresher in how to give the UPAR. https://youtu.be/xCam42fwdLY
Private School/Homeschool
It is very important that we know the students who have special needs within our school district that attend private school or homeschool. Please keep this list updated throughout the year.
Personal Device Agreements & Check Out Form for District Devices (AT)
October SNAPSHOT - Plan Now! October 27, 2023
Why is this important for you? Snapshot numbers are used for determining the funding from the state in many different data areas. One of which is the number of students being served in special education, their instructional settings, types of services as well as results driven accountability data.
We ask that any students needing initial evaluations within a few weeks after snapshot be moved up to have ARDs completed prior to snapshot so we are able to account for these students in funding and personnel need analysis. Also, please be mindful of any re-evaluations due prior to snapshot or students needing evaluations due to NCEC status and aging out of that eligibility.
