Conference Data
Congratulations for working hard to achieve a conference attendance rate of 97% during the recent winter conference cycle. You effectively conferenced in person and over the phone and some of you are still trying to reach out to families that haven't had a conference yet. You do an amazing job sharing academic progress and social skills observations and letting families know what their children need to focus on. We want all families to receive this information and feel connected to school. Thank you for your hard work in trying to have conferences for all students.
Clustering
We will continue to cluster students based on ability, language needs, race, and other attributes as we have been doing the past years. In May, Erin Haynes will work with grade level teachers to assist in the process of identifying students, particularly for the HA cluster classrooms for next year. I am sharing information with parents about how we cluster students in all classrooms and how we create class lists for the next school year at the March 17, 2016, PTO meeting. Please see me if you have any questions.
Preparing for the Summer
Jeff Arthurs, Coordinator of Custodial/Maintenance Services, visited Rice Lake last week to talk about preparing for summer programming and cleaning. Because Rice Lake is hosting summer Kidstop, there may be different expectations for preparing for the summer this year than last year. As requested in previous years, it will be important to store personal items in cupboards or take them home to assist our custodial team and to keep those items away from summer program users. If you are wondering about personal items that you find difficult to store or take home, please check with me. Also, because Kidstop will be here through August 19, 2016, the goal is to have the building ready for staff on Monday, August 29, 2016. If the custodial team is able to give access to classrooms earlier than that, I will communicate that in August.
