SLE WEEKLY UPDATE
September 30, 2022
Dear East Families,
Earlier this week, we had the chance to celebrate our 2021-22 Honor students. Awards earned included the Academic Letter, Principal's List, and Honor Roll. Congratulations to all of those who received recognition on Monday evening. Next week we are delighted to celebrate the induction of our newest NHS members. Each member has demonstrated scholarship, leadership, good character, and service and we look forward to watching them continue to exemplify the four tenets of the National Honor Society as SLEHS inductees.
We have a few updates for you to review. Have a fantastic weekend!

Extended Trips or Vacations
As a reminder, we are administering mid-year and end-of-year assessments without adjustments. Please be aware that students need to be present to take mid-year and end-of-year exams at the time they are given as we are not able to give exams early. We understand there may be illnesses or extenuating circumstances, but delaying exams leads to delayed grades and may lead to a delay in establishing eligibility. Please take a moment to review our exam schedule for January and June to avoid uncertainty and delayed grades. Additionally, if you plan to be on an extended trip or vacation, please take a moment to review the following note shared in the SLCS Community Update this week. See below:
We recognize that families may need to travel during times outside of our school district’s scheduled breaks. In the case of any prearranged vacation or travel, make-up work may not be ready prior to a student leaving. Students may need to collect their make-up work upon their return to school.
It is important to note that our district’s practice is to drop students from our enrollment after they have been absent from school for more than two consecutive weeks without medical documentation. If your family is traveling for multiple weeks or months at a time while school is in session, please be aware that your family will need to re-enroll your student when you return to the district. Make-up work will not be provided for the time the student was not enrolled.
At the middle and high school level, grades earned prior to the vacation/leave may or may not be reinstated upon re-enrollment based on the duration and individual circumstances. If you have questions, please contact your building principal
