TLT Weekly Training Opportunities

Create an Online Lecture in 3 Steps with Voicethread

VoiceThread is a web-based content delivery application that allows users to assemble and narrate media-rich presentations that can be shared with others. What sets VoiceThread apart from other online content delivery tools is it permits viewers to comment (via text, audio, or video) on the content being shared - perfect for confirming understanding and encouraging discussion. This session will introduce participants to creating a Voicethread and sharing it via OAKS.

Wednesday, October 5th 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Easier Online Paper Grading using Google Classroom (New Class!)

While the OAKS Dropbox tool is great for collecting assignments, it falls short when it comes time to grade because it offers no markup features. Google Classroom's Assignment tool allows you to collect assignments, like in OAKS, but then you can easily add comments and mark up the assignment using Google Doc's Suggestion tools. In this session, you will learn to use Google Classroom to create, assign, grade, and submit feedback on students' assignments.

Thursday, October 6th 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Adding Interactive Elements to Your Lectures

Interactive lecturing seeks to involve students by allowing them to participate in discussions, engage with the content, and become more active in the learning process. In this session, we will discuss the framework for interactive lecture design as well as strategies that you can easily implement to make your lectures more engaging.

Monday, October 10th 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Part 2: Flipping Your Classroom without Flipping Out (New Class!)

Flipping your classroom involves moving your in-class lectures to outside the class, typically through videos, in order to free up in-class time for significantly more interaction, collaboration, and application. In this session, we will focus specifically on tips, tools, and best practices for ensuring in-class activities and assessments are purposeful, application-oriented, clearly structured, and effectively paced.

While this session builds upon Part 1, you need not have attended to benefit.

Wednesday, October 12th 3:00 PM – 4:15 PM
