LBUSD Superintendent Dr. Jill Baker's Message

Principal's Message

Greetings JROB families!

I hope it was a great weekend for all!

As we say goodbye to September I would like to highlight that the JROB staff has been working hard on creating opportunities for our students and staff to build community and address Social Emotional Needs. This has taken place during advisory period, restorative justice circles, Back to School Night, SPIRIT WEEK, Student of the Month Celebration and capped off by our Friday Movie night. Our teachers have also been working on refocusing students on quality characteristics of in-person learning. Parents, I ask that you hold conversations with students on how their first month of school went for them and what adjustments they will make during the second month of school.

As we welcome October, our teachers will continue to focus on creating quality learning opportunities aligned to standards. In an effort to meet the needs of all students, during the month of October, we will begin to use iReady, a diagnostic test that all students (Except Kindergarten the first semester) will take. The valuable data collected will be used by our school so that we can align necessary interventions for our students. I welcome you to my Principal Zoom Meeting tomorrow, Monday, October 4 at 4:00pm so you can learn more about our iReady program.

Based on guidance received by our district, be advised that we will continue with an adjustment to our COVID screening protocols. Our school will screen approximately 75 students on Mondays and Thursdays. Details are as follows:

  • 10% of unvaccinated students weekly (Monday)

    • A list will be generated by the district and provided on Wednesdays to allow time to prepare for the following week.

    • Students screened MUST be registered in Color by parents/guardians

  • All unvaccinated adults will continue to be screened weekly (Monday or Thursday)

  • Students participating in Modified Quarantine will be screened twice weekly during 10 days.

Remember that when it comes to health and safety protocols, we are committed to making our schools as safe as possible.

  • Masks will be required for all students and staff while they are inside.

  • Physical distancing will be implemented where possible.

  • We’ve optimized ventilation and air filtration in all classrooms.

  • Surfaces will be sanitized and cleaned as much as possible.

In the event that your child is sick please keep them home. If they receive a positive COVID test result, please call and notify the school. THANK YOU to all families that have been responsible and done this. We are counting on one another to keep our students, staff and loved ones safe.

Thank you for all of your support during this unprecedented time, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Salvador Madrigal
