Student Check-In
Teachers, Mrs. Pierce is asking if you could please share this Google Form with your students through email and class dojo. She would like to try to gauge how our students are coping. Thank you for all you do.
Ways to Contact Parents
Several of you have asked if there are ways to contact parents using your mobile phone, but without displaying your personal cell phone number. There are a few options available:
1. *67 - You can hide your personal number from the recipient by dialing *67 plus the recipient's phone number. For example, *678705551212. Please note that by using this option, the recipient's caller ID will likely show Unknown or Private Number. Parents or students may not answer their phone if this shows.
2. Google Voice - The district does not have Google Voice enabled through Google Apps, as it is a paid feature for schools. However, you can utilize a personal Gmail account to sign up for Google Voice by going to https://voice.google.com. This is a free service offered by Google for personal accounts and you would need to download the Google Voice app onto your mobile phone in order to make a phone call. The last time that I checked, there were no local numbers available, so you will likely be assigned an out-of-state number, or you might be able to select a 501 or 479 in-state number, that would show on the recipient's caller ID.
3. 3CX App - All of our classroom and office phones are managed by the 3CX system. 3CX offers a mobile app that will allow a user to make calls using their cell phone as if they were making the call from their classroom or office phone. The system will send out an email tomorrow morning around 9:00 AM to each person that has a classroom or office phone assigned to them. This email will contain instructions on how to download the app, how to quickly setup the app, and what your extension number is. Also, included with the email will be a QR code attachment. Once the app is installed, it will give you the option of scanning the QR code to setup the app. The app can then be used to make phone calls and the recipient's caller ID will show your school phone number. If needed, you can leave a message for the recipient to call you back at your school number along with your extension number. Until school resumes, if a parent dials the school number, there will be a prompt to dial an extension number. If you have the 3CX app setup and are in available mode, your phone will ring or a voicemail can be left which will show up in your school email.

Message from Mr. Ashley
Dr. Ivy Pfeffer reminded us that AMI cannot duplicate school based instruction. Rather, it serves as a way to keep students engaged in learning.
As educators we don't need to be too hyper focused on how much work the kids are getting finished, but instead consider the anxiety some may have. What they may have been able to do with us in structured classes may not be possible in the setting they are currently in. Many are babysitting or in difficult situations and completing their work is not a priority. Let's consider that they have an opportunity to learn many life lessons and perhaps our work can lend itself to that.
Since we will not be grading the work or using the completion of it to count for attendance, then teachers should just be aware that some will get it done and some will not.
In the meantime communicate with your students. Check on their health and well-being. Just tell them you miss and love them and the routines because they probably miss that too.
