This week at the pool...
KMSC news for 7/7 - 7/13/2019
Summer Fun in the Sun!
What a month we've had!
Home swim meets... pizza... rafting... cannonball and water balloon contests... crafts... yard games... and much more!
Rain tried to dampen our Fourth of July festivities, but all it did was allow us to spread out the fun over two days!
We had crafts, a water balloon toss, a mad scramble for change, and a cannonball contest!
July 4th is always our biggest event of the season! The photos here say it all. A great time was had by everyone!
Special thanks to all the parents and grandparent who helped with crafts, water ballon games, ice cream and clean up. Our socials director, Sherri Spritzer, says: "Couldn’t have done it without you!"

Moon Theme for Ladies Night Next Week
Our second Ladies Night is NEXT WEEK (Tuesday, 7/16) and it has a lunar theme!
Members Tricia O'Reilly and Cathy Ebner will be the hosts.
We''ll gather at 7 p.m. The pool will close to non-party goers at 8:45 p.m. The party will run until 10 p.m.
Cost: $5 for adult pool members, $7 for their adult guests. Our free coupons aren't accepted for these events.
Bring a salad, appetizer or dessert to share. Soft drinks will be provided. Bring your own beer, wine, or alcoholic beverage.
There will be a full moon out that night and it is just four days before the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
If you are creative, bring a dish with a moon theme.
We need 15 RSVPs for this event to be a "go." RSVP to Tricia at firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday, July 14.
Pizza Will Be Back Sunday
Pizza Night at the Pool ran into foul weather Sunday, but it will be back this week!
We'll be selling pizza Sunday (7/14) after rafting has started (5 p.m.) and the yard games have ended (3-4:30 p.m.).
Make a day of it!
The pizza comes from Ben Yehuda's. We sold 10 pizzas in some 15 minutes June 30th and could have sold more, so we'll be upping the count of available pizzas this week.
We'll be selling it on the pool deck for $3.50 per slice, $6 for two slices and $22 for an entire pie, cash or credit (a transaction fee will apply for the latter).
Beverages also will be available for purchase from the Snack Bar.
Sherri Spritzer (selling pizzas at left) is the force behind our Pizza Nights at the Pool -- but she could use some help. You can volunteer at this Signup Genius.
Consider a Poolside Picnic from Holy Chow
Holy Chow, the kosher Chinese take-out restaurant in the Kemp Mill Shopping Center, is giving our swim team a percentage of all sales it delivers to our pool this summer!
Just place your orders through the restaurant's website at https://holychow.me or by calling 301-649-5466 to enjoy a delicious, healthy meal poolside!
Deliveries to the pool also are free at 5:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays through July 18th! (The restaurant's standard $5 delivery fee applies at all other times).
In order to ensure that only authorized people are using our facility, all members are expected to check in at the front desk and to pay fees for any guests at the time of entry.
The check-in requirement is stated in our operating rules.
The staff have reported to me that some members are resisting requests to check in and/or to pay fees for any guests they are bringing into the Club.
Please be reminded that income from guest fees helps to pay for the upkeep of our facility...and that the operator in charge is authorized to ask unpaid guests and the accompanying member to leave the facility.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
