8th Grade Families- Mark These Events Down!
Please mark these below dates on your calendar, and let us know if you have any questions. It has been a true pleasure to serve your students and your family. It is hard to let them go on to Little Elm High School, but we do so with anticipation of the great things they will accomplish. Don’t forget we look forward to graduation invitations coming our way! #PrestwickProud
Our learners will attend LEHS for an orientation, tour and question and answer question session on Monday, May 15th from 9 am -12:00 pm. Students will come to Prestwick and travel via buses to LEHS. They have pink permission slips coming home and 100% of students will participate.
The next event will be Award Ceremonies on May 17th from 6:00-7:00 pm. Students and families receiving awards for academic excellence and high character will be notified that they will get awards by staff. Please join us!
Our final farewell to our 8th graders will take place on May 26th at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. This will include a procession through the campus and closing ceremony in our cafe. Please bring signs, posters and any other fun events as we celebrate them and bid them much success. Feel free to dress wacky and embarrass them if you so wish. :) Students are free to leave with families after this event. We can’t wait to see you!
Happy Camper Book Fair Coming Soon!
Our fall book fair was great, so great . . . . that we were able to purchase bean bags and bean chairs, a big reading rug, and many books that students have been asking for! With your help, our Spring fair can be just as good - if not BETTER!
Below are scholastic web sites showing book trailers for books that will be available.

2017 Kid-netic Games: Alex Brings Home Three First Place Medals!!!
Alex Powell, Prestwick 5th grader, completed in the Kid-netic Games on May 6, 2017 in Dallas, TX. Alex felt like she was representing Prestwick STEM Academy in a big way! She competed in three events: the 60 meter dash, the 100 meter dash, and shot put. She got first place in ALL of her events! Shout out to Tex Milner for coaching. Way to go, Alex! We are Prestwick Proud!
Fireball Arcade is a Hit!
Mr. Rodriguez brought his 5th graders up to experience the arcade! Students laughed, squinted eyebrows in focus, and simply enjoyed learning with the 6th graders!
Great work by the 6th grade students under the fantastic leadership and direction of Mrs. Lucas. Even with the 5th graders she was discussing learning targets and probing their thinking with questions!!!!

Staff Spotlight
Greetings Lobos! For this week's staff spotlight, we would like to recognize our Middle School “Lobo of the Year” (Secondary Teacher of the Year), Mrs. Rosie Miniscalco. Mrs. Miniscalco is one of our outstanding 7th Grade ELAR teachers and our National Junior Honor Society Sponsor. Mrs. Miniscalco was nominated and voted on by her PSA peers for her hard work, outstanding service, and commitment to student learning. Mrs. Miniscalco has taught ELAR for 10 years and earned her degrees from Austin College in Sherman Texas: a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s of Education.
Mrs. Miniscalco’s love for teaching and helping students is evident. For Mrs. Miniscalco, the best part of teaching is building genuine relationships with her students, “I love the relationships I get to develop with my students; I love that they become my own kids and become a part of my family.” Additionally, Mrs. Miniscalco shares her love of reading and writing with her students, “It is the greatest thing ever to see my students learn and grow. I love when they are not able to put a book down because they don’t want to stop reading!”
Mrs. Miniscalco is the proud wife to her wonderful husband, Joe, and they have two wonderful young ladies, Emelia and Maddie. In Mrs. Miniscalco’s free time, she loves spending quality time with her family, cooking, and binge watching movies and shows on Netflix with her daughters. Another interesting fact about Mrs. Miniscalco is that she enjoys doing home improvement projects and working with saws, tools, and heavy equipment.
The Prestwick family would like to congratulate Mrs. Miniscalco on her well-deserved accomplishment. We are proud to have Mrs. Miniscalco as a member of the PSA family!
