Text Surgeons Hard at Work

Thank You to Doctor Vice

Second Grade teachers would like to give a special shout out to Dr. Vice from Sunrise Dental for donating surgical masks for a special classroom experience! Teachers transformed their classrooms into operating rooms where students were "operating" on patients who needed certain text features. The masks made the experience extra magical! Thank you Dr. Vice!

Thank You to Parents That Donated Gently Used Shoes to Help Student Go to Space Camp

You may recall in a recent Sunday Message, Mrs. Stepnoski, one of our second grade teachers, presented a project to our PTA Board which was in turn endorsed. Her nephew, Austin is wanting to go to Space Camp but money has been tight due to his father undergoing cancer treatments. Showing great initiative, Austin found a way to earn money by acquiring gently used shoes through an organization called funds2org. Austin would like to say THANK YOU for contributing shoes and helping him raise money to go to Space Camp.

This Week is the last chance to participate in the READvolution program. Students have until this Friday, November 16th for students to POST THEIR BOOK TITLES ONLINE AND their hockey pucks on the ice rink at the front of the school.

The Carolina Hurricanes will award students who achieve the reading goal of 20 minutes per day throughout the allotted time frame (for a total of 800 minutes) will receive two complimentary ticket vouchers to a Hurricanes home game.

For the school-wide component, schools that collectively read 2,020 books. Our students, as of this past Friday were at the 2054 books have read and will be entered into a drawing by region to participate in this year’s Cool School Field Trip to the PNC Arena in February 2019. Fingers crossed that our school is selected from the drawing to attend the Cool School Field Trip, students and get the opportunity to see a Hurricanes practice, participate in fun activities, and hear from the players.

If, chance your child Guides have been created to share with families and school staff to help log reading and books into the READvolution Dashboard. Go to video overview to find out how to log in new books. Also go to the following links for more parent information on READvolution and a "info sheet" on signing books in.

If you have any questions please contact our school READvolution rep Kayla Perry (
