The Buckhorn High School Band will present an evening with Stage Hypnotist, Mike Andrews on Saturday, February 13 at 5:30PM. This show is for people of all ages and will encourage audience members to "See the show Or be the show". The event will be held at Buckhorn High School’s Blue Gym and will also include pre-show performances and concessions. Tickets are $10 for advance tickets and $12 at the door. See a Buckhorn Band member for tickets. Proceeds benefit the Buckhorn High School Band and other organizations at BHS. In August 2015, April McCutcheon began her 12th year in education. Beginning an administrative career at Buckhorn High School in 2010, April has worked collaboratively to strengthen the academic and social achievement of students. Before returning to the Buckhorn community, April had the opportunity to serve 6 years as a career technical teacher and coach in Madison County and Huntsville City Schools. As a Buckhorn alum, she moved forward in her pursuit of excellence and obtained an undergraduate degree in Business from Lee University and Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Auburn University. She is proud to be a part of the Buckhorn family and looks forward to continuing a tradition of excellence!

ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The 2015-2016 Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center, TOC Sports and D1 Sports is underway. They are looking for high school senior student athletes who excel on the field, in the classroom and in our community.


From September to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.


All weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor in May, and two students are selected as Athletes of the Year. The two Athletes of the Year each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Optimist International Essay Contest

Details, can be obtained from the homepage of Optimist International which is: www.optimist.org. If you go to that homepage, on the right hand side about one third of the way down from the top, you will see an option called Scholarship Contests; if you click that, you will come to a page that has a highlighted box entitled Essay Quick Links - the first option is highlighted with a dot and is entitled Contest Application. If you select that, you will find the basic document which gives all the relevant information for the essay contest. Contest Rules are in Section III.


Our local Madison Optimist Club will award prizes to the top three essays: $300, $200 and $100. The winner will move on to District Competition.

Your organization invites the public to attend, they provide the treats. Your organization will receive 20% of all yogurt sales to put towards your goal.
