A Message from Dr. Bearden
There was a lot going on at SHE during the past week and a bunch of great things coming up! Beginning this week, in addition to outlining the upcoming events in the "Save The Dates" section, I have listed all of the dates when students do not come to school for the remainder of the school year. Being at school every day is important and I hope that having the list of days off helps you to plan. Please consider planning appointments, trips, etc. on these off days so that our Huskies miss as little school days as possible! However, when he or she does need to be absent, please work with his or her teacher to take care of missing work, if any. If any absence is due to sickness or other medical reason, please send a note so the absence can be marked appropriately and excused.
Next week, on Thursday, the majority of the 5th graders will embark on the annual overnight field trip to the Rock Eagle Campground located in Eatonton, GA. Students, staff, and parent chaperones will leave very early on Thursday morning and will spend two days exploring, hiking, canoeing, and learning. We return home on Friday afternoon. I went on this trip last year and had so much fun! I am really looking forward to spending time with this year's 5th graders as they learn, explore, hike, canoe, and learn. I will share some pictures thru HH next week!
Last week, I told you about #SHEShares and how we value community service and being kind to others. Our Huskies generously brought in spare change to donate to Coins For A Cure: A fundraiser to bring awareness to Childhood Cancers and raise money for research. PTO volunteers help coordinate this fundraiser and were in the rotunda each morning to greet students and collect the coins. Proudly I report to you that, in just five days of collecting, our Huskies donated a total of $1,501.52 for Coins 4 Cure (Cure Childhood Cancer)!!
House of Friendship - $434.57
House of Unity - $504.46
House of Creators- $562.49
The week closed out on Friday with a PJ day for staff and students, as well as a pep rally for all! I hope that all of your Huskies enjoyed the fundraising and the Friday Fun!
Looking ahead and October is a busy month! I promise to keep you updated and, as always,
thank you for reading and for your partnership! Please reach out if you have any questions or anything to share. Take care, Lorrie

A therapy swing and small tunnel/climbing structure for the front special needs preschool playground
A new grouping of mid-level climbing structures and slide, which will be located behind the 3rd grade wing on the grassy area.
Two regulation soccer goals and an assortment of playground balls for each grade level. (Currently being used by all grade levels)
The installation of the playground climbing structures is still TBD, pending meeting FCS protocols for installation of new equipment. Click for a sketch of the new playground structures.

IF THE STAGE HAS TO BE CLOSED: LUNCH DATES ARE UNAVAILABLE ON THESE DAYS
There are several times during the year when the stage must be closed for a variety of reasons. When the stage is closed, lunch dates are unavailable. For instance, on Friday, October 4th, our stage will be closed due to setting up the cake walk area for the carnival. Later in October, we will administer the Iowa Tests to the 3rd and 5th graders. During a state testing window and due to testing security, only Fulton County employees are allowed to be in the building. Parents and visitors may visit the front office areas only. We will do our best to give you as much notice as possible, when the stage has to be closed and/or parents are allowed in the front areas only. If your child's birthday falls on one of the days, when the stage is closed, please consider having a lunch date on a different day. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
We will always list days, when the stage is closed, is the calendar at the beginning of this newsletter. 2019-20 Lunch Schedules by Homeroom Teacher
